The corrections this time is too good. Composing illustrations with a setting in mind really does change the outcome alot. For the second one, i really thought sensei was gonna make it a cute girl waiting for someone from outside the door. Walking with a friend in the cold, side by side gave a very warm-hearted slice of life feel. I like it alot.
i am amazed at how Naoki sensei change a negative/pessimistic illustration into positive/optimistic illustration. I actually clapped my hands watching this. Sasuga Naoki sensei👏👏
Cool! even a painting that I think is already good can look more beautiful in your hands!

I think the second picture was trying to be a visual novel game girl being sad and cold. I agree that the meaning wasn't very obvious, but the way it was corrected gave it context and made it super cute 🥰 making her happy and going to school with a friend on a snowy morning is so wholesome ❤
두 번째 그림 수정하기 전에도 멋져 보였는데, 전문가의 조언으로 엄청나게 더 좋아지는게 바로 느껴져서 신기해요!

It's interesting how people can have different ideas for the same prompt! For the frilled shark girl, you chose a sleepy expression and two-colored hair to represent the gills, but my first idea was a hungry expression and hair ribbons for the gills.
The second one I think should have stayed a sad picture. I think maybe that’s what the original person wanted to convey in their work. It’s a very cute and warm reimagining so there’s nothing wrong with that. I also think it’s cool when art can be used to express some of the sadder moments in life. It can be for stuff like drama related stories I think maybe it’s all preference and I still love Saito’s work. I just think the loneliness and sadness of the original were deliberate choices and sometimes it can be useful in art Eg. If you want to draw emotional drama mangas.

second work orignal was nice but now more nice ( but still original work is very innocent )
I wish naoki made the second picture more lonelier and quite interested on how to make a illustration to make feel lonely and desolate ps : the correction is perfect god tier "cheif kiss" not hating with the change just curious on how he will do it
@asterv84311 ай бұрын
I was thinking this, too. Maybe the artist was intentionally going for a lonelier scene...? Of course the concept of finding the positivity is nice, but it's valid to express "negative" feelings through art, as well.

I got the idea if you are interested. Imagine if most things stayed as sensei drew it, but main character is as in original. Only change would be to her eyes pointing away from that happy person on the left. Giving them even more space between them it would give even more on that lonley in a croud feeleing. At least thats what I think it would look 😅

For the 2nd correction, I saw some comments saying that Saito Naoki sensei changed the message/vibe of the original illustration. I agree. However, the artist only described that they drew "a girl going to school on a winter morning", showing how cold that morning is (snowfall, snow piles, grey sky), and its effects on her (she tries to warm her hands, the redness on her face). Notice how the artist didn't describe "The girl is sad". Now, the girl indeed _looks_ sad, so we immediately assume that the artist wants the impact to be more sorrowful. Because the background seemed empty and deserted we assumed that maybe that's what the artist aimed for: loneliness and emptiness. But then again, is the girl really feeling sad, or did the artist just want to show how cold she is (but drew the incorrect expression)? As Sensei said, the description doesn't match the illustration. Therefore, based on the artist's description (and the lack of the word "sad" in it), I think it's acceptable that sensei turned the illustration into having a more positive vibe to give more impact (and IMHO, it's working because now the illustration feels nostalgic). (To be honest, I was hoping the artist described why the winter morning makes the girl sad and then asked how to lay out that information on the canvas to make a clear and impactful story to the audience, but alas...) Sorry for the long comment, Sensei!

Yeah, the first impression I got from the second picture before correction is like, is she broke of with her boyfriend or just slight blizzard at her way to school and she didn't like it? Like, it's a somehow depressing to look at. And I'm definitely leaning towards the positive vibes Naoki-sensei gives to the drawing
@nadiada548411 ай бұрын
@@ashbell2003 Yup, i was thinking that maybe there's a sad story behind her sadness (related to her best friend, family member, or lover). Gloomy weather could also makes some people feeling sad and down, so that could be another reason. But when the artist didn't mention "sad" in their description, I was confused :D Yes, I really admire what Naoki-sensei did to the illustration. Sure, the environment looks cold but I feel warm instead ^^
Even if I like the final result of the second correction, I kind of prefer the atmosphere conveyed by the Before picture. I find it kind of unfair that the loneliness aspect was lost, I think the artist meant to represent someone who is pure and beautiful but feels lonely and sad, hence the melancholy of the picture. I do believe it needed some corrections, but in After it feels like her whole character and the meaning of the piece was lost.

Japanese high school girls put a priority on cuteness, even if they have to endure the cold. They would die in the cold in Russia.
