They do show some Punjabi culture but hardly anything else. In Swadesh I saw the typical vastu-shilp modeled ancient architecture. I wonder if North India still has many such homes with the central quadrangle open to the sky with a tulsi plant in the centre. This is still quite common in the south.

So wonderful to see a traditional south Indian joint family in the quadrangle of their traditional home - all lit up for a festive occasion. I loved that they all went to a temple after that with the matriarch of the family leading them with the pooja thali. The surprise of the little kid who was probably raised in a different - probably foreign environment was also shown nicely. Contrast this with the fleeting glances of the young ladies, the admiration of the young men - all so traditional and steeped in our culture. Then there was that brief exchange of the lady with her former classmate from college. (She said UG - Undergraduate? Thats a very American term. Or did she say something else like Uni perhaps? But that is also not typical in India) . I don’t know of ANY music video ANYWHERE that can show so much in so little time while treating us to some wonderful classical dance and classical Carnatic music. Brilliant!! This, @RickSegall is pure multi-dimensional artistry distilled in a snippet!!

I think there is a small mistake in the subtitles Nanmaiku sollidum poigalum azhagu Means "Lies uttered for the sake of goodness is beautiful" Next line is Unmai athuthan meyyai azhagu Truth is truly beautiful This whole song explains how everything is beautiful.. Lies though bad, is beautiful when used for goodness.. And truth is truly beautiful..

Hope you understood the last scene. The couple is childless and when her friend asks if you have a child she looks at her husband and don’t know how to answer that question. In India in some places not having a child is looked upon differently. The little girl realizing that her aunt is not able to answer that question, calls her mom. She does not let her aunt down. It’s a very emotional scene. How mature the child is and what goes on in a child’s mind. Well it’s all in a movie though. Imagine in real life if a child does that by calling out somebody as a mother, then really gods should be dwelling in such a soul. 🙂

In India it is everyone's business when couples are married and are still not having kids after a few months. When I got married I was studying for my post grad so we decided not to have kids until I finished my course but people started asking about kids every where we turned after about 6 months. They even started speculating about why we are not having kids and who could be having the 'problem'. I was at my wits end explaining to people that I wanted to complete my course. We waited till I was doing my internship on my last semester and my son was born soon after I completed my course. Then they started asking why am I not having another kid. God they just wont leave you alone.

Basically just don't speak to anyone about anything. Cause anything you say can put pressure on someone else like even asking how are you to an unwell person can be pressure. Don't think, cause if you think based on what you are seeing can be prejudice.
