He was stronger during their first fight through until Namek, he was stronger when he first got super Saiyan until the ROSAT, he was about equal during the Buu saga (Babidi boost, but it's pretty heavily implied he kept that power up), he was stronger during battle of Gods. he's at worst equal during Super and DAIMA... Goku wins because he's one step ahead, not because he's inherently stronger.

Throughout the series, Toriyama has emphasized that balancing the mental and the physical approach aka the way of the Kame school, is the superior one to training your body to death aka “the Vegeta way” (which he only truly get rid of, slowly). If Goku’s heart virus hadn’t manifested itself at the right time, I’m 100% sure that Vegeta wouldn’t have been so smug about the difference in their power levels. From what I’ve seen, it was only after Vegeta’s first ROSAT that he truly went beyond Goku again, but Goku had a plan 😅. This is coming from me, a guy who likes Vegeta very much.

Being the strongest doesn't really matter because who's the strongest depends on the moment or time of the series because most of the main characters have the potential to surpass each other at any given time. I would say currently in the Super Manga Goku UI Form and Vegeta Ultra Ego are probably about equal. The interesting thing about Vegeta is how angry he was over not killing the Z fighters on earth during the Sayian saga. But he beat Goku and if Goku didn't have help he would have died with Vegeta killing him.

He got angry once because a low class warrior pushed him that far, and he got angry a second time because he wasn't able to easily kill a bunch of weaklings. Canonically he won that first bout against Goku, but in Vegeta's mind he lost that because him winning should've been a natural outcome with no struggles. That and there were survivors when he wasn't trying to leave any.

Broly is simply special, in the sense that he can apply the KI and power of the Oozaru on top of his transformation, without actually becoming a Great Ape. He is, in a way, a mutant in the Dragonball universe. And Gohan, well... I like to think that his "beast" form is simply a branch of evolution caused by his mixed genes (human and saiyan).

Both Goku and Vegeta have potential and drawbacks and at different points in the franchise both have surpassed each other. Being strongest doesn't matter in the franchise because who's the strongest changed depending on the situation. I wouldn't be surprised if SS3 Vegeta was stronger then Goku right now but again who's the strongest changes at any given time during the series. Realistically though Vegeta is a better more interesting character then Goku.

About SSJ4 Vegeta, his higher strength could of been because of Bulma's blutz wave machine. It was able to make Golden Oozaru Baby even stronger than he was initially when it was used on him. I'd assume she'd zap Vegeta with the same amount of blutz waves (or more) so that he'd have a better chance against Omega Shenron. Also; what's interesting to think about is when SSJ4 Goku & SSJ4 Vegeta fuse, that could potentially give Gogeta the Blutz wave amp Vegeta had along with Goku's Ultra Full-Power SSJ4 state.

Saying Vegeta mastered super Saiyan 3 is a stretch. He never used it in super. I know the out of universe reason is that it wasn’t written for him. But the in universe explanation is more likely that Vegeta didn’t master it and he found that the stamina drain was too much, which would be why he never used it in Super. The reason why he didn’t show the stamina drain is because the power gap was so wide. He didn’t need to break a sweat. Goku on the other hand had to fight Majin Buu and even fat Buu has outrageous stamina and regeneration, so of course Goku would tire out more quickly. Not saying Vegeta doesn’t have higher potential, but I don’t think you made a strong argument that Vegeta mastered SS3

Again the better thing and Babidi's buffs are as natural as they can be. -In Daima Goku bested a Tamagami with SSJ2, Vegeta needed SSJ3, hardly what I would call better. -In GT Goku got SSJ4 and the multiple states of it while Vegeta needed the blutz device. Buffing devices are super natural... -In Super, Goku got SSG first, although this was a ritual and either could have it. -SSB it's questionable but by RoF Whis states Goku is stronger and Vegeta acknowledges it. Vegeta got the best one alright. -In the anime Goku got KKx10 SSB while Vegeta got SSBE two arcs later, by that time Goku was getting UI. Also by the Zamasu arc Trunks and Vegeta couldn't deal with merged Zamasu while Goku alone overpowered and disfigured merged Zamasu without the KK. What i saw: 1 Nothing says any Tamagami is stronger than another, so they all seem to be on the same level. 2 Goku defeated T3 in SSJ. 3 Vegeta couldn't win at SSJ2. He did say his he wasn't used to being a child. 4 T2 was powered up, so Vegeta had to go to SSJ3. This is after Buu, so we know Goku can go SSJ3. In my opinion, the information we have gives the edge to Goku, but this is Dragon Ball. They're going to be about on the same level with Goku slightly ahead. If they have the same training and Goku comes out on top every time, then it sounds like Goku is stronger. What you've said inspired me to talk about DBZ. When Goku first fought Vegeta, it was very clear Goku was weaker. Goku had been fighting Earthling while Vegeta had been in space doing things we don't know about. Once they got to Namek, Goku trained in 100 times gravity, and Vegeta has been chasing him ever since. Vegeta admitted that he went Majin to close the gap. I don't put any stock into transformations. Haven't all the z fighters shown insane growth when they have a goal in mind? Krillin went from around 200 to over 1.7k in a year to fight the saiyans, since he had the goal of surpassing raditz in mind. Since goku got the form first, vegeta used everything he learned from goku to achieve his.

Goku was tired by the time vegeta went ss4. 😅 thats why he destransformed, he was exhausted. The show mentions this.

The tiredness kicked in after fusion . Nobody , not Goku, Vegeta or Omega felt Goku's power dip until they reattempted fusion. That's why they could fuse and Goku felt no dip before that. OMEGA TRIED TO STOP THEM FUSING but only let them do when Goku dipped during the 2nd attempt. Also, Vegeta fought Omega up close alone and was better than Goku who needed to bluff being blind lol.
