One of my Italian friend’s grandpa once told him about a regiment of soldiers that they fought against during the world war 2 who were really scary and terrifying men who had huge beards and moustaches and first fought with their rifles and once out of ammo they fought with their own personal daggers and if they were disarmed they would fight with their bare hands..These guys destroyed platoons upon platoons..Nice to see a movie being made upon the same people..

Perhaps instead of calling others names, try to get it through your thick head at what is being said. Sikhs are a religious group, that includes Indians for the most part, however other ethnicities/nationalities as well, that may not have any relation to Indian heritage. There are many Sikhs that are of European, African, Latin American, East Asian heritage. And the monument is being built for Sikh soldiers only, not all Indian soldiers. But because Sikhs are our fellow Indians, its right for Indians to feel proud as well. There's nothing wrong in saying Arab Muslims and Indians should be proud of APJ Kalam either you idiot. Religions span nationalities, ethnicities, identities; its not that hard to grasp onto.

Sadly not many outside India know about Sikhs, they are the bravest, modest, coolest people. Jaby, If a sikh family comes and lives in a housing community anywhere in the world including in America, trust me, the residents can rest easy. There is a reference to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur..which jaby might not have got..and the battle of Sirhind where he avenged the martyrdom of 2 kids and mother of Guru Gobind Singh. The mughals had captured them and buried the 2 kids alive but the enclosure in which they were buried collapsed. Aurangzed - the Mughal king, got furious and later executed them. The Sikhs have a history of bravery, sacrifice and service towards the community. This reference gave me goosebumps too. Proud to be a Punjabi.

Over one million Indians troops,apart from forces from some other Indian princely states fought for the British during 1st World war with a hope to be granted independence at the end of the war. But all they got was, lies, disrespect, and deceit. Indians got through extreme cold conditions ofwestern Europe while fighting against Germany. And then extremely hot conditions in Ottoman empire, both of which Indians were neither habitual of nor prepared for. They had to keep standing in trenches filled with water for months, thus most soldiers loosing their legs just standing. But the tales of their valour while fighting spread like fire, thus many Indian soldiers were presented Victoria cross which is the highest award of United Kingdoms honours system. The Indian soldiers sent heart wrenching letters of their conditions to back home, which was ofcourse first censored by Britishers and then sent to their families. But the stories and heroism of these braves have long been forgotten as very little has been written about them. After the end of the war, these soldiers were neglected by the British, for whom they fought and ignored by their own country, from where they came. With a hope for Independence after the war, what they got in return? Rowlatt Act? Jallianwala Bagh Massacre? We should be thankful to the director and Diljit Dosanjh for revisiting this heroic tale so that this generation gets to know the history whic has been carefully concealed.
