Other nations had their golden generations at the same time: A. Brazil 2002 B. 2004- Portugal/France/Czech Republic and Netherlands were all better while Greece won the tournament. Sweden were at least on par with England while Italy, despite poor performance that tournament (even though cheated out without losing a game) were about to enter their prime. C. 2006- that Italy squad was ridiculously stacked, France arguably better 1-11 although not as deep as Italy's squad and had an inferior manager. Germany's resurgence began that tournament while Brazil were the great under-achievers. Portugal were in their golden generation's final throes, reaching the SF while Argentina introduced Messi to the World. All better than England. D. 2008- Mcclaren failed to qualify for the Euros and he gets way too much leeway for that. Spain won it, Germany were beaten finalists despite being in transition while the Dutch lit up that tournament. E. 2010- Spain continued their ascent to the top of world football. Germany played the best football at the tournament, falling short due to inexperience. Holland got to the final, defeating Brazil and Uruguay along the way. International football is incredibly low at the moment by comparison

Carragher is quite spot on for Trippier. Shaw isn't fit yet. That could well be the difference. However we must start as we did against Holland. Spain and Holland aren't that dissimilar TBF. Spain are better but they'll give you space. Georgia caused them some issues so did both Germany and France. It's just that Spain have been very good going forward. I'm hoping for a goal feast.
