dabbing is used for a bit of texturing specially for freckles. But honestly for skin, I mix the 3 methods, feathering, swirling and dabbing

You should do another one where you use the exact same 4 or 5 colors for each technique, so we can really see the difference between the techniques and not just between the colors.
@Sakuems3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it would make a big difference, the techniques are working with all colors but it makes more sense to use some for specific areas like the dabbing technique with pastel rainbow colors would be interesting but it would also be quite a mess to not overlap too many colors so you avoid being muddy. Instead of making a new video that would be pretty redundant, I might do an actual artwork process that show the techniques in depth ^^

@Sakuems6 жыл бұрын

@Sakuems5 жыл бұрын
to blend green with purple you need a blue violet and a blue green in between. It also depends on the saturation level, the brightness of the color and if they are really different, like a light green and a dark purple. I could help you more if you named colors :)

I'm mixing copics and promarkers, mainly because of copics ridiculous prices, (even though promarkers aren't cheap either) second because promarkers basic colors are more vibrant, but they don't have the skin tones and muted tones copic does; oh, is the ink in the ciaos any different from the sketch?
@Sakuems6 жыл бұрын
No the ink in all copic markers are the same :)
@aP-kh9nu6 жыл бұрын
@@Sakuems than how come the ciaos are recommended for beginners with alcohol markers? Cause I've got a lot of sketch colors but they're so expensive, I'm well into alcohol marker medium so I want markers with the best colors, and I was thinking of getting some ciaos because they're more affordable
@Sakuems6 жыл бұрын
they are recommended precisely because they are cheaper and imo easier to handle. Since the ink is the same, buying all ciaos then extra colors as sketches is a lot cheaper. I started with other brands but when I went into copic I bought 30 ciaos and extended my collection until I bought the 2 ciaos set 144 markers and then graduallly bought new colors as ciaos if available and only purchased sketches for other colors.
@aP-kh9nu6 жыл бұрын
@@Sakuems it still isn't cheap either way, do you use promarkers?
@Sakuems6 жыл бұрын
Ciaos are still expensive yes but remember that Copics are the only markers you can refill, and with a refill you can get up to 12 ciaos markers. I started working with markers with the old letraset Trias that didn't have a brush tip, for about 5 years so you can practice with those and still do good things but if you're into characters, a brush tip is really a good thing to consider. I know there's some cheaper alternatives on dickblick but I can't try them you have to be in USA or canada. Promarkers are nice, they do brushmarkers as well, they are great.

What type of paper do you use? I use watercolor paper because I don’t have the right paper
@Sakuems5 жыл бұрын
for markers you shouldn't use watercolor paper on its own, it's going to use too much ink. You should pick cardstock or bristol board or any smooth paper. Layout or paper labelled as marker paper or ilustration paper is working nice too. I personnaly use the brand called Perfect coloring paper and it's available on amazon.

I'm having a lot of trouble gett my markers to blend - could it be because I'm using Ohuhu?
@Sakuems2 жыл бұрын
Hi Haley ! I'm not familiar with Ohuhu markers since I didn't try them but if they have a brush tip you should be able to blend them well, although quite frankly I tired off brand copic with brush tips (like 3 others brands) and they don't perform nearly as good as copic markers. Sometimes the brush is too thick; too soft, too hard and so on. I would encourage you to try at least a few other brands to see if the issue is the tool or your technique :)

Ok but ur not saying what markers you keep switching to. U keep just saying your using lights and darks but your forgetting that, each specific color your using and where your using it and which colors are going on top of other colors, these are all important things when trying to learn blending. I wish u would have slowed this down and actually explained the special colors your using on top of other colors and when to switch off.
@Sakuems6 жыл бұрын
I use them in order that I gave in the description. I always switch between the closest color or most similar color. That's why it's important to pick them before doing the shading. I do have a video about picking colors on my channel, this was more of coloring technique :)

Doesn’t the nib to nib technique ruin the markers
@Sakuems5 жыл бұрын
you have to be careful with the technique it's better to work from dark to light, you grab color from a dark marker. try the other way as well, sometimes it works better but you do have to use the marker you transferred ink to, fully, until it gets back to its original shade. If you don't do that you will stain the nib. It's not the technique I like the most but I do use it with certain shades that are too different.

This was a little hard to understand. Sorry. You're descriptions were just confusing. If I didkt already know these techniques I would be lost. For the feathering technique I think the word you were looking for was flick. You flick the marker at the end.
@Sakuems5 жыл бұрын
I'm French so English isn't my native language, I'm trying my best to explain a very technical approach with the language barrier. Most people understood what I was going for and there's the visual that helps so I hope it was enough to help others. Yes you flick the marker, I heard that word before but I couldn't think about it when I recorded the video.
