@@SilverMystes1 That's only a positive whilst you have an audience. Look at KSON...her videos now are often getting below 20k views. Not live viewers, TOTAL views. No way she's making anywhere near the money she used to. Not too mention the other disadvantages she'll now face with no state of the art recording and production facilities at her fingertips or any of the other help and benefits being in arguably the most successful corp brings in terms of opportunity and exposure. Indies simply cannot compete at all on anywhere near the same level...it's like the difference between playing for Barcelona and some berk that plays for a local amateur Sunday league pub football team....it's ridiculous to imagine they are on par. Most likely it'll be reduced revenue over time, greater expense to get anything done in terms of music/production etc, less opportunity for content (again look at KSON...the so-called content she couldn't do in holo turned out to be building Gunpla...hardly riveting stuff). Sure, if Sakuna averages 300-500k, or more views, like she used to get, then I'm sure she'll see plenty of revenue... yes that'd be great to not have a corp cut taken out of that revenue...but, if that eventually drops, as it inevitably will eventually, then maybe not so much.

Yeah, that's definitely the advantage to being in a corporation, they have management to help deal with emails, meetings, and other things. Of course the downside is that they take a portion of any earnings, and they introduce their own bureaucracy and meetings. When you're as popular as Sakuna it'd probably be helpful to have an assistant that can at least help with emails and some meetings, but then there's the difficulty of finding someone responsible you can trust, as well as paying and managing an employee.

Them taking a portion of earnings is not a "downside". It's fair. Hololivers make more money than they know what to do with. I get you're just listing the trade off, but "downside" means it's a negative when it isn't.

@@RecordToDeathToBoredom really just depends on what you want to do. If you want to just stream and do no collab and sponsor ship, then you dont need manager. But if you want to set up collabs, check email, get game/song permission,, get sponsorship, set up meet and greet etc etc etc....basically anything outside streaming, it is overwhelming. We still dont really know what she wants to do as an indie so hard to really say what is better

@@Newbtuber but its not a "downside" to pay someone what they deserve for helping you with your enterprise. Sakuna will end up earning a lot of money, and if she doesnt want to deal with emails, inquiries and meetings she should hire someone she trusts and pay them fairly. Its not a "downside" unless shes utterly greedy about money (which im not accusing her of). The only real downside of accepting help is that in small operations like this you Have to trust them, especially if they're the business facing element of the operation, they will end up with a lot of power and that can be awful if you arent careful with who you take on.

My bets are she’ll probably join a company in a year or two if she can’t find someone to support her well enough administrative-wise. Kson did, Mikeneko did, Dokibird started her own company but was immediately taken advantage of, Dooby has an assistant who does some managerial tasks like filtering emails(probably a family member). But then again, almost all of them didn’t achieve everything they hoped for, while Sakuna left due to having been satisfied with what she’s done.

@@janematthews9087 Unfortunately No, I just started watching Vtubers, Hololive in particular last September. Just to practice Japanese listening skills. I got curious along the way what they're talking about and actually enjoyed the content especially when they're playing games. I'm still learning the culture/terms in the Vtubing scene but I'd say I'm having fun as well. I'll try to look them up! Thank you.

I mean, even making a cover song would need her to manage everything from commissioning illustration, recording, mixing, and making MV. That requires a lot of managing. Unless she's planning to do it all herself, she needs a manager. Tho it won't be easy finding one. Corpo managers are hired through HR and corpo filtering, they also gives training and stuffs. While being indie would need her to take on all the risk herself. But still, all the best for her.

There's another such as doll merch that they designed themselves and paid all the manufacture cost, they'll get 100% sales cut. If they let Cover handle it all, then they'll only get tiny cut. Some Hololive members talked about this long ago. That's why many of them are busy making merchs as homework

I think the idea of spamming or flooding a popular persons personal email is a bad thing that is usually common in places where people are disrespectful. Some things are cultural like ordering pizzas to addresses in America, while you have other things like calling the workplace with fake reports or making elaborate fake stories (not obvious troll ones) that are more prominent in Japan. Japan isnt a magical wonderland or anything but it is pretty insular.
