I first encountered this song with your arranged version. Personally I think it's a song that surpasses the original. Especially piano left hand melody and chorus arrangement starting at 03:09 are really fantastic and adorable... It alwalys makes me cry. The original song is kind of like celebrating the fact that Shinji found love with Kaworu and everything and then this version sounds like what they'd play after Kaworu's gone and I just have this image of Shinji all curled up in the eva in 3.33 and just AHHHH TT____TT All the feels from this cover

Kaworu might be the anti-messiah, honestly. He lies to Shinji about the real cause of Near Third Impact, and we know he's lying because his story is inconsistent with what we saw at the end of 2.0. He probably genuinely meant well, and he probably really thought they could restore the world with those spears, but he did really guilt bomb Shinji hard in order to manipulate him into agreeing with his plan. And as a result of meeting him, Shinji ends up in a way worse position than he was in before, emotionally. In every continuity, Kaworu is the worst thing that ever happened to Shinji.

AirsoftTim92 I never liked Kaworu. I thought all of his motives were self-serving. The only good thing he did was prevent Shinji's head from being cut off. But he's an Angel so that probably wasn't a big deal for him.

I don't think they'll ever see this, but Utada was genuinely part of my trans awakening. Listening to this song when I was in highschool & in an awful, complicated relationship with a girl, this song(& the whole album really) helped me get through it. I didn't figure out I was a man until a bit after I had graduated, but... Knowing that Mys. Utada is truly a trans icon, knowing they're also trans, also nonbinary, & thinking of how much this song impacted me when I was so lost & in so much pain, I want to send them nothing but the best.
