I have the PS2 version. Just beat the game for the first time tonight. I got the Gemini ending. Really enjoyed this title. I was a Sakura Wars fan from before, but this was the first actually SW game I played.

Very good review! Seriously man, you're very thorough and speak intelligently. I just bought the game and have yet to play it. I've not bought a brand new ps2 title in quite awhile, but this game seems worthy of play on a dated console. Thanks for the info. I shall now subscribe :)

The Sakura Taisen series is one of the best SRPG that Sega was ever made plus it was the best selling original title for the Sega Saturn in Japan.

I'm wondering if the social link type stuff is as good as something in a game like Persona 4. I recently watched the entire Endurance Run on Giant Bomb of P4 and, until then, I always hated games like that. But that series piqued my interest and this game looks a little similar. Thoughts on that? Is it at all like Persona 4? Especially in terms of the humor, story, structure, etc. I realize it's different companies, developers, etc. Great review by the way!!

I totally agree with you. I'm playing it right now and I love it so far. I think I'm going to end up with Diane my first play through, but Cheiron is my favorite/ I AM JUSTICE!!!!

For sure! After I beat the game I kind of wished I picked up the PS2 edition instead. I would love to see ports of the other titles on PSP or DS

@nickux17 To be honest while Persona 4 sits on my shelf - I haven't given it a go yet. Though Persona definitely has a much darker tone.

@gomu269 I only tried the Wii version but the PS2 seems to have extras including the soundtrack and Japaense audio dub. In retrospect, if I had to choose between the two again...I'd go PS2. The Wii version is by no means bad though.

Idk why this game gets so much hate, its one of the most unique RPGs I've ever played,its got multiple story lines, great characters, and in each story you get a chance to rage at a character just so the like you later XD

@segashiro Yeah, it is... I keep trying to find good JRPGs for the Wii and Fragile Dreams is all I can find. No one can suggest a good JRPG that has Japanese dub with it. :C For the Wii anyway.

@segashiro Wait, you mean the Wii version doesn't have the option to switch to the Japanese dub? Seriously? Aren there ANY games for the Wii that let me switch to Japanese language?! All I've found so far is Fragile Dreams!! OTHER THAN THAT, WHAT CAN I GET FOR THE WII THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO PLAY WITH A JAPANESE DUB? D:< I might get irritated enough just to order the dang things from Japan, but then I won't be able to understand it well until after I'm done learning the language...

I did however wish they translated the first four games since people are familiar with the Hanagumi and Paris cast. Also, Sega West is lacking interesting SRPG.

xenoblade has the option for japanese audio and its the best game on wii in my opinion.
