If you like romancing waifus and piloting mechs, have I got a game for you! Strategy RPGS often tell their stories via visual novel-esque scenes, but Sakura Wars takes it to the next level with its unique blend of two hit genres. Too bad this game didn't sell well.

Hahaha Man! It’s funny you say that about the cover. Even back when researching games ahead of purchase was harder, I still never made impulse buys. But I saw a good deal on the deluxe box at GameStop one day well after its release and thought “How bad could it be? This all looks awesome!” Happily, that turned out to be true both for it and for the other time I did the same: Yggdra Union on GBA!

honestly there are tons of way better games to try on ps2 before you waste your time on this one, if you like TRPG try out Dynasty tactics 1 & 2 which are just awesome, or Ring of Rd, very original. anything almost on ps2 is better than this crap really...

I have this game. I bought it for PS2 years and years ago. I was so excited to find an unopened copy. I have never opened it. It is one of my prized games in my collection. Maybe it’s time for me to get a used copy so I can finally play it. For those considering the game, I recommend you get the PS2 version over the Wii version. They are the exact same game and play equally well, but the PS2 version comes with two discs. Disc one is the entire game with English dialogue while disc 2 is Japanese dialogue with English subtitles. The Wii version is only in English with no Japanese dialogue option available. If that doesn’t appeal to you, either version will be just fine. I just like having the option.

@@brichan1851 I don't know this is console fault or just Skies of Arcadia engine, but SW5 looks ,,too bright'' for me on Wii. Not huge graphic diffirences but PS2 version looks for me bit better than Wii version.

Sakura Wars V, while it's not really my favorite of the bunch, i wouldn't call it bad, i did enjoyed it and the best way to play, is with the Japanese audio.

I need your help! I remember playing a PS2 game, im pretty sure it was at least. Where you were a winged creature watching over an egg or a baby at a waterfall along with a female. At some point a man and his goons show up to take said egg/baby and when you try and stop him he ends up ripping off your characters wings! I have been trying to find this game for the longest time please help!

Nothing specific comes to mind. Parts of it sound like Soul Reaver, parts sound like Spyro, and parts sound like Arc the Lad. I'd look up those three. I tried looking but couldn't find anything specific that you mentioned.

Reminds me of Arc: Twilight of the Spirits. That game definitely has the "protagonist gets his wings ripped out by goons"-scene. I'm pretty sure thats the PS2-game you're looking for.

If you want another view on this, from a TRPG fanatic who's played them all, this game was my biggest disappointment of all times when I got it on ps3 after waiting for so long to get a chance to play a game from this "supposedly" legendary series. Please don't waste your time, characters and story are ridiculous, so much so even my 10 years old daughter would find it laughable, combat is dull and uninteresting. if you like visual novels play Tears to Tiara 2 which despite a long beginning is well written and even has strong gameplay for tactical combat phases. There are just so many TRP to play nowadays after to many years with very little (that got us to try this type of niche games). no excuse anymore to go for the worst game of a series that maybe should have indeed stayed in Japan. My 2 cents, save your time or at least save your money and try it first for free, one way or another.
