How magnificent this place is, I wish I will visit someday..❤❤

To add to everyone mentioning anime with similar imagery, Gintama's 18th ending "Balance doll" not only has the mirror effect, but also shows the salt formations at 1:12 in the beggining before the camera pans up. For the longest time thought it was weirdly drawn water caustics before I found out about this place

I’m planning a trip there, but I really want to go when the salt is reflective. So it depends on the weather that day or the time of day?

Yeah and also rain helps!
@Tarvet Жыл бұрын
Sometimes it rains so much that even the 4x4 can't enter because it is unsafe for the cars, try to go at the beggining or at the end of the raining season (before it gets crowded is better). Getting the perfect mirror+stars+sunset is a mix of lucky, good planning, and choosing the good guides and drivers.

Great video!! Would be interesting to find out what it’s really like to be there on a day like that. I can imagine it’s more crowded in some areas than pictures show, or maybe a big percentage is being industrialized now

These salt flats are not possible on the globe because all water must be curved by gravity on the globe.
@EverythingExplainedd10 ай бұрын
huh
@TheNightShunter10 ай бұрын
@@EverythingExplaineddSelf explanatory. A curved mirror cannot create a specular reflection. All large bodies of water must be curved by gravity pulling from the core of the Earth if the globe were true.
@snore17810 ай бұрын
@@TheNightShunternot really? The curve can be so gradual that it's hard, if not impossible to distinguish from a flat mirror with the naked eye The salt flat is so small in comparison to the scale of the globe that there really isn't too much of a change
@TheNightShunter10 ай бұрын
@@snore178at 10 miles distance there should be 66ft of curvature in all directions from an observer height if around d 6 foot. Theses reflections are not possible at all on a globe. They would be distorted.
@snore17810 ай бұрын
@@TheNightShunter y'know You're right, it should be distorted at such a distance And now that I'm looking at it closer, it is distorted near the horizon The clouds are somewhat compressed (for lack of a better word) near the horizon, like an ever so slightly bent mirror It's just hard to notice because you can only see about 3 miles before the curvature of the earth prevents you from seeing any further
