Ladies, I hear you! Im older than you all - 86! I’ve fought your battles and despite fighting it, the aging continued - the wrinkles, age spots, sagging skin, the belly, that ever lasting extra weight that just wouldn’t go, the increasing aches, and decreasing energy. I’ve had it all. So last year when I turned 85, I gave in. ….I’ve learned to embrace and celebrate my age. It is what it is. I’lm still here. I’m independent, can care for myself, maintain a home, lead an active social life. Blessed and thankful for it all

I'm hesitant to write comments, rarely do it. I am a fitness trainer and I also have extensively studied nutrition because my clients are all baby boomers who struggle with weight. I was born in 1960 so I went through menopause a few years ago. You are an expert in beauty and I love watching and learning tips and tricks from you so I want to return the favor! Changing hormones and how the body reacts to those changes is what we are addressing, remember that INSULIN is a hormone and is a GROWTH HORMONE that puts our bodies into "fat store mode" and high insulin levels are caused by elevated blood sugar. Calories in calories out does not consider the chemical reaction to what the calorie consists of. Don't believe me? Cut out all sugar, including fruit ( this is where people get in trouble) eat the same amount of calories and watch what happens in two weeks. No alcohol, look for all the hidden sugars, eat more healthy fats and protein because those fats do not raise the insulin level. I have my clients do this and they have success EVERY TIME!!! This is what I had to do because I could not be a trainer and be lugging around extra weight, it just doe not work in my line of work! Try this, you have nothing to lose! ( pun intended ) Thank you for your videos, I appreciate you!

I removed sugar from my diet at age 50. Fourteen years later, I’ve not only kept off 50 pounds but the shape of my body changed: My waist and belly fat whittled away. For most of my life I was apple shaped. Now I am hourglass shaped.

Kriket this is so true. I'm 63. Between the ages of 43 and 56 I was a vegan. I thought that I was doing the right thing for myself. But I always struggled with my weight. Now I know it was all the pastas, breads, fruit, etc. I am now eating 1-2 meals a day - high in healthy protein, fat, with no fruit and just a bit of vegies. I do IF for about 20-22 hours a day. I now weigh what I did in high school, have tons of energy, am doing kettle bell workouts plus walking.

I'm 67. I was doing so well on my weight and had maintained it for a couple of years. I started slowly adding fruit back into my diet and I could tell that is when my troubles started. I need to put the brakes on my fruit intake. I'm up about 7 pounds and I'm struggling getting the carb cravings under control. Cold turkey will be the way to go for me.

Thank you Kriket. You’re so bang on! In your experience, have any of your clients go through menopause twice? Once in my mid 50s and now late 60s. No fruit? But it’s peach season!!😉

I don’t know if I could never do fruit. I don’t do fruit in cans, etc, only whole natural fruit. There has to be some way you can eat fruit, has to be. Would not giving up pasta, bread,potatoes, etc work, to allow you some fruit? Please find me a way to have fruit daily!!!

Tammy, you are an ageless beauty! We have to discuss the frustrations of aging and you have no idea how validating it is to see you talk about them. The most important thing is to stay healthy and active, I do not deny myself treats now and then but staying mindful of my choices has helped a ton. Embracing our bodies as they are is key and you are right buying a few new pieces to make us feel good is worth it. Thank you and keep this dialogue comin!

I'm 67 and have been through the menopause/belly fat train. First of all, it's not calories or exercise or a specific meal plan. It's your hormones!! I embraced by body, belly and all for years and balancing my hormones (with food) helped a lot. But I'm now at my high school weight while being even stronger. I started intermittent fasting in January and the weight has melted off. I don't calorie count - I eat healthy, nutritious meals during my 8 hour eating window and then I stop and fast until the next morning. For exercise, I walk and do moderate strength and I absolutely love how I feel in my leaner, meaner body. I also love that I now have a waist again!

The only way I could control my weight,my mood swings, my hot flashes is with hormones replacement for the last seventeen years. This change my life for ever. It gave me back my joie de vivre. The quality of my life is more important than quantity of the days I lived. I am not afraid of taking it . If you need medication for thyroid problems, cholesterol,blood pressure etc etc your are not afraid so why if your body produces no more hormones most of the women are afraid to take a replacement medication. I had tried all king of alternative traitement as acuponcture etc without any help. So good lock ladies. I had blood tests showing my hormones level were fine but I knew it depend on the days of the month. So I don’t know why some doctors only check what the hormones test revealed instead of listing what we , as women,are saying about the ways we feels. …. A young doctor recently told me if I will be his patient he will get me out of the hormonaux replacement therapy . My answer was : I am so glad I am not your patient. 😛 He was not a genecologist why saying that to me. My geneco. Is a woman and she told me her mother is taking it for years. Seventeen years ago She put me on it for three months to see how I felt and after those months I when back to see her for an other prescription and I told her that she gave me back my life, my joie de vivre. Some doctors prescribed medication for depression because women told them they’re not feeling good. This is terrible 😣. It is sad to see so many women feeling so bad without hormonothérapie. Maybe you are really not a candidate….I feel sorry for you😞I love watching your videos. I know very well that my English is not very good but trust me I worked hard on it. It is not easy at my age to learn a new language. I just love learning new things 😉

I am 77, as of July, and have seen the body change dramatically, as well as joints not working so well as in my 60’s and lower legs swelling in the afternoons now. For me, water aerobics truly help. But you must have a demanding leader or a really good audio tape. Furthermore, you only get out of it what you put in to the exercise. Also, aqua Zumba is a game changer! Again, you need a qualified leader or an audio tape to follow. I am 5’5”, 148 lbs. (had gotten all the way up to 170!). People are always amazed at my age. I only started being really invested in skin care and makeup in the last couple of years ad that has also made a powerful impact. Thanks for your sharing and insights. Keeping active is very key to ageing gracefully.

It’s great to be able to see all of our sisters agreeing on how hard it is. I’m 72 but not overweight. I have an autoimmune illness that prevents me from being active as I used to be. I managed to still keep my weight at a decent size for me then my illness did a number on me and I lost 25 libs like overnight. Talk about frustration and trying to maintain healthy body. My bodily lactially has almost become all flab in a lot of places. Now it’s hard to gain muscle back and I eat the best I can. Now the belly is still the problem. With all the sudden drop of weight / muscles the fat in belly is the only thing that has survived this new health issue. So I have gotten so tired of trying to become who I was and try see the new me. It’s soo hard because I was health and firm but life happened. But I’m grateful I’m still here and alive. It’s just another trial for me to survive. Clothes has changed some but I do my best to cover arms etc. i work out when pain allows me. So I understand how we all feel. It’s the worse thing to happen to us. But your awesome tammy and you are full of strength th or us all

Hi miss Tammy! Nice haul. The lip products in the brighter pink tones are beautiful. I am a year and a half into my natural gray hair journey and I LOVE it. My natural hair color is soft black (black with red highlights). I had no idea as to how it would look as I stopped covering my gray roots. I didn't know how much gray I had so it was a surprise to see my natural hair grown in and I love it. So I will complete my journey in another 6 months. I wear my hair mid-shoulder length with layer and I think that I will wear it long for the foreseeable future. Like you, I find that I have to work very hard at keeping my weight stable. I lift heavy weights every 3 to 4 days and go for walks in the off days. But my issue is my metabolism. I am very sensitive to carbs. I can't handle them at all. I have been able to manage my weight easier by eating carnivore style and intermittent fasting. But I know that as I grow older (and wiser) that I will have to recalibrate as I go because the body does change and requires different type of care. Anyway, I have been where you are in feeling of frustration with the little to no pay off with weight management, but I think you'd agree that the alternative (not even trying) is unthinkable! Having said all that, I have to say that faith is perhaps the most settling and perspective-giving thing in my life. "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Proverbs 31: 30. Wishing you lots of success in your journey! Many blessings to you :)

What a fantastic haul! I'm really looking forward to seeing your new pink lipsticks in action. And yes, I'm learning that the fallout from aging isn't for the timid. While I'm still fiercely guarding my beauty, I realize that can only be done up to a point. The diet I focus on now is the MIND diet, which feeds my brain. Over the next couple (+) of decades, I realize it's not going to matter so much if my skirt size changes (because it will), but if my mind changes and fails me that will truly be a tragedy. You are doing GREAT!

The thing that worked best for me, honestly, and I've tried lots of things including the gym3x a week.... anyway intermittent fasting 16/8, cut out some sugars - (cakes candy cookies etc - although I allow myself a treat on some weekends) - also daily walks and pilates 2x a week. Its helped me a lot I've lost 11lbs. for me that's really good (I'm very petite so going from 138 to 127 was major) its harder as we age but the health is well worth it. It is so very disappointing when we work so hard on diet and exercise but the weight won’t shift… but go on holiday for a few weeks and gain so easily. I have been struggling with my weight and nothing seems to work. I would love a discussion about this so we can support each other and lift each other up to keep reminding each other about our inner beauty and loving ourselves, treating ourselves as lovingly as we treat others. We forget and are so critical of ourselves and speak so harshly to our inner self saying things we would never dream of saying to anyone else. Went thru menopause at 43 due to 9/11. The stress of that day pushed me into early menopause and by June 2003, I was done. I was mostly able to control everything until I hit 50 and started a new position, 4am wake-up, traveled 4 hours a day, worked out less and less, and my butt got bigger (pear shaped) and now I have a belly (which I never had in my life). It’s a constant, frustrating battle because I too, eat healthy. When you find the answer, please share. 😊

MollyUSA - in a nutshell? Excessive stress, driving up your cortisol /insulin levels, which in turn drive up glycogen, fatty acids & result in excess fat stores in the body, especially adipose tissue...and around the liver.

Hi Tammy, Might sound unbelievable but my tummy size surprisingly started diminishing by using my exercycle and/or the treadmill 3 - 5 days a wk for 30 min. I am totally w/u as to working so hard to combat aging. For yrs we enjoy seeing attractions of our bodies… until all of a sudden, we look & it takes real work to find. This can not be all there is to this life 😌

Well Tammy I can relate to the body changing frustration! I just turned 65, and I found that all the exercise I was doing wasn’t changing the number on the scale or the middle age spread! Last year I read that weight loss is 80 % food related ! Of course I was eating healthy but not watching my intake of bread and sugar. Once I reduced that , my weight number on the scale started to go down. I was thrilled ! I lost a couple of dress sizes but I still struggle with the last 20 pounds. I wish I could stay away from pizza and bread but it’s a constant battle and my body just hangs onto that fat! Tomorrow is another day … I’m going to keep moving forward and not give up! You are great by the way ….inside and out! ❤

You are just gorgeous but I know EXACTLY how you feel about the weight gain and body changes. I just turned 62 and I’ve never had to watch my weight before! It is beyond frustrating! No matter what I do or don’t do. It doesn’t work! This is definitely a conversation and I would be so interested in knowing what others have tried and found to work for them! Like you, I feel educated on nutrition and exercise and I am SO CONFUSED! I also worry about the health issues of belly fat which is stubborn and won’t budge! Let’s figure this out!! 😉

I'm still going broke trying to find a foundation. I'm not in the sun anymore like I use to be think that did it and menopause. Can't wait to see what you find. I really went from warm to cool nothing I have looks good.

I feel your frustration regarding weight. Since menopause I watched the weight creep slowly up 20 lbs. No carbs work but absolutely unsustainable and I believe that "diets" are unhealthy in the long run. If misery loves company, I'm in great company, because there's no one I know who's not having the same issue, but I'm NOT comforted😟

Oh Tammy, I am so with you! I was thin until I turned 50 and then the weight started creeping up on me and by 60 I had put on 30 pounds!! I'm 66 and I've put on another 10 pounds! I don't work out like you do but I try. And I will be honest, I've gotten so frustrated that I do not always eat the healthiest. I wear black most of the time, especially tops. My husband teases me if he sees me in a color but always tells me I look fine. It's just so depressing. Anyway, sorry for rambling but it is such a struggle. Thank you for sharing and you look fantastic in your new clothing!!

Thank you for this menopause conversation. My frustration is that insurance does not pay for the hormone replacement to help the ones who can use them for the benefits of health. It should be a conversation!

The day I started hormones replacement it change my life in many ways. No more mood swings,no hot flashes,more energy and lot easier to control my weight. I have lost the extra pounds plus I never gained it for the last 17 years. Why are we taking medication for thyroïde,diabetes cholesterol etc and afraid to replace the hormone that missed in our body🤷♀️. I don’t want to add years to my life if I don’t feel myself and happy in this body . Trust be it really change my life.

@@Jismag1 exactly. I'm a retired women's health NP and the reason there is so much fear in our society is because there is more profit to medical providers/companies to not replace and treat instead the 100 or so symptoms of what the root problem is and that's our ovaries are not producing hormones any longer. We replace thyroid, we replace insulin for the pancreas in diabetes yet women are supposed to suffer or feel misled to think it will cause cancer. It's all about the dollar.
@jenniferriley62142 жыл бұрын
We should not have to piece together replacement medications. The replacement medication that was prescribed, made for hormone replacement, was not covered by a "good" Blue cross Blue shield policy.
@jenniferannfox23162 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferriley6214 The two I mentioned are 2 separate meds because some women who have had a hysterectomy do not need to take a progesterone as they do not have a uterus. All HRt regimens have a estrogen med and progesterone med if you have a uterus. There are companies that combo two but they are not what the body naturally makes and includes a synthetic estrogen and a progestogen. Those actually have alot of side effects and risks that have been studied to not be as beneficial. I was just sharing a source that is not expensive if your plan doesn't include HRT. I hope that helps. Actually, for effectiveness and consistent dose, pellets are the best. Those are not covered by insurance but many women have benefited from insertions every 3-4 months. Transdermal route is superior to oral pills in best effect on the body for the heart and bones.

My friend, also menopausal, who’s doing a fast type diet, I think it’s some schedule like 3-4 days water only, then 2 weeks of intermittent fasting. After trying all the fads, seems to have been the one that she lost the 25 lbs with, but she’s absolutely miserable for the days she can’t eat! The same diets that always worked…don’t seem to work as well after menopause starts. You are still stunning, Tammy! But I understand the frustration.

My mom recently passed away unexpectedly and we’ve been going through all her old photos and I hardly recognize myself. I, like you, work out consistently (4 x per week lifting weights) and walks with the hubs and I eat a pretty healthy diet but nothing I do seems to help. The fat just sits there. I’ve pretty much given up, I don’t know what to do anymore, it’s gotten to the point, I can’t stand looking at myself tin the mirror. But I have a beautiful granddaughter and wonderful children and I enjoy my time with them and try not to worry too much about getting older. As always, love your videos

I am not obese and I am 5’8 tall but going from 130 to 143 is quite disappointing for me especially if i stay away from eating junk food, carbs, sugar etc. I have started to hate my body.....

The process of aging and your body changing is so frustrating at times. I love your outlook - you radiate positivity. And I love how you always keep it real! I gave up my every other week gel manicures and pedicures because of the rising costs of everything. I made the initial investment of quality products and I’m hoping I can make it work. I learned how to do my own mani/pedi during the shutdown in 2020 so I’m thinking it should work out just fine. 🙏🏼
