This couple made a junior program comparing B/S. The choreo was simple, the jumps and spin were good but the lift was so simple and that fall decided all already. 5.9 for presentation in a program full of nothing was a joke, it deserved 5.7 and 5.8. Fortunately, scoring system changed.
@MsRumex4 жыл бұрын
@oofahman mooch flawless does not mean most technically difficult. If one team had superior program and makes a small mistakes it easily can get better marks (with a deduction) then a not as difficult (even perfectly skated) program of the competitors.

They should have been marked down for the fall, it was on the final move and final beat and it was still during the program. then they laid there, no way the judges didn't see it.

These two above are really funny trying to make excuses for this mediocrity on comment after comment. I mean even if you find it in yourself to defend their love story, why isn’t there a judging scandal about the short program fall? The hypocrisy is mind-boggling.

@@1chienandalou Exactly!! If Anton and Elena fell at the end like that in their short like those two bozos i swear to god they would deduct that and complain about it and not excuse it as not an element! Anton and Elena were perfect in their short: difficult program, intricate, perfect timing, beauty, elegance, all of the above. They act like stepping out of a jump like Anton is a big deal when it wasn't; if Peltierr did that they wouldn't care and make excuses for them! Hypocrisy at its finest! @@1chienandalou what a stupidly easy program with the dumbest choreography I've ever seen like what is 2:07 I was lmao on the floor. Horrible positions, little speed, flow, no footwork, and let's mention the fact that they have SO many breaks to take a breath for their next jump now let's look at the beautiful anton and elena who are all what the Canadians aren't. They are beautiful, passionate, flowy, and ballet on ice while doing a very difficult program never stopping! That's why I love them! We're they perfect? No ,but look at these two bozos who fell on their ending pose like WTF and made several mistakes at the 2001 worlds and won by some miracle when anton and elena we're near perfection with no mistakes! Shame they weren’t using the new system, then there would be no question who should have won B&S where faster, closer and had far more transitions than these guys
@titoa80052 жыл бұрын
It was because of this Olympics, particularly this event, that the judging changed. Otherwise, we would still be in the 6.0 system. While I adore B&S. Judging this event under the new scoring system does not make sense. It was judged under the 6.0 system so it should be scrutinized, using and taking into account the criteria they used under that 6.0 system. As a side note, if they actually used the current socring system, B&S would not even come out on top technically. Under the new system, it would've been Ina and Zimmerman who would've won the technical side of things; presentation scores would've been a different story tho. While technically, B&S were far superior than S&P, they did have a glaring error on a major element in their LP and they weren't as connected to the music like they were in previous performances; you could see how empty Elena's eyes were in that LP performace and she wasn't into it as Anton was (pressure and nerves, most likely). Under the 6.0 system, the mistakes (however miniscule) and presentation are weighted heavily. It is actually the presentation mark that sways a skater's ordinals. And majority of that mark is based on your performance and connection with the music, the audience's reception to your program, and an error-free performance. Even if you get a 6.0 on technical merit but your presentation is just 5.7/.58 and you have a competitor that has a presentation mark higher than yours, you're going to be placed second even with all the difficult elements and transitions you put out there. Reason why Michelle Kwan was virtually unbeatable in her decade-long career even though she didn't progress technically. Reason why Sasha Cohen, even though technically and artistically superior to MK, was always the bridesmaid because she couldn't put down an error-free performance even though her programs were more technically packed and more difficult than Michelle's. The reason as well why Midori settled with second or third place in most competitions, even tho her competitors were technically behind her. S&P did the easier LP technically (not sure what Sandra Bezic is smoking about them having the best lifts at the time tho), but they did put down a performance that got the crowd going and it didn't have any glaring errors. They should've won by presentation merit. I don't agree that they placed higher in technical against B&S' LP. They should've gotten almost the same or a tenth of a point lower than B&S. But they would've still won it with the presentation marks. Under the 6.0 system there is no way an error-free performance would rank lower, presentation-wise, against a program with a glaring error and a glaring disconnect with the music and audience. That's where the juding scandal truly happened. And that's why we're all here with the new scoring sysyem.
@1chienandalou2 жыл бұрын
@@titoa8005 What are you babbling on about? Did you copy and paste this comment? Do you realize this is the short program? There is no judging scandal here. There was never any comparison who was the better pair at this Olympics, neither at the short nor at the free. Keep clutching at straws though. I mean, they literally fell here. And even in your beloved free program, the Russians would’ve easily won with a bigger margin with your beloved new scoring criteria.

Now, I will just try to make an educated guess. I think what I am seeing here is that many people were especially paying attention to the long program, which can be remembered more than the short program since it is the last performance that occurs in this event. Maybe that is a reason why numerous people in America and Canada support this Canadian couple. Also, maybe a routine does not have to be complex in order for it to bring positive results. Maybe routines with complex tricks can amaze the judges, and routines with less complex tricks can have judges blown away by the form and synchronization of each skater.
