The original Salem's Lot 1979 still gives scares me to this day everytime I watch it on Halloween night! Congratulations to the cast, crew and director Tobe Hooper for a great film that has stood as a classic!! One particular Halloween night 33 years ago (1982) it was very foggy out and we had large windows in the apartment we rented while watching the televised Salem's Lot, when around the window scene with Mark's encounter with Danny Glick the phone rang and I picked it up and this young teenager on the other end said to me whispering "Your going to die tonight"....and I replied back in a raspy voice to him "oh yeah well your going to die tonight because I know where you live" lol and he abruptly hung up the phone! You never know what kind of crank calls you'll get.....or the response! No word of a lie that is how it happened!! To this day I still think of that night in 1983 when watching Salem's Lot the 1979 version on Halloween every year.

great story my friend, this film is in my list of top horror movies, and before the days of youtube and the web, i always assumed the marsten house was a real old house! those effects guys really know there stuff. regards the batman.

Tone Hooper went on to make Lifeforce, Hammer Films had stopped making films in the 1970s, Tobe Hooper wanted to make a Hammer Horror film about Space Vampires and did, though not by Hammer Studios and bigger budget it was heavily influenced by Hammer Films.

We lived in the "Barlow's Antique Shop" house at 217 Francis St (across from the "Police Station") from 1998-2001. Neat old place. We were there when "The Majestic" with Jim Carrey was filmed all around us in 2001, and got a modest stipend from Castle Rock Entertainment for agreeing to keep our cars and ourselves out of view when they were shooting within camera view of our place.

I always wanted to visit the Marsden House and stay there the night. Yep the original Ferndale town is in the Rhondda Valley's, (Singer Tom Jones country) Wales, UK, it's 20 minutes up the road from where I grew up. My late grandmother was from Ferndale, she was a Celtic Welsh fluent speaker to. Europe's oldest language (Latin aside). Thanks for the video.

@simonc31129 жыл бұрын
Siobhan Cosgrove haha yeah. it's disappointing when you see the house though. like the video says it was all a big facade, and the house is so different that it doesn't even remotely look like the marston house. there's also no cool driveway like their was in the film. i was barely able to get my car up there to get a closer look. it's probably changed a little since 1979 too. no white picket fence around the other side of the road anymore. aside from that the rest of town is pretty cool. the design for the cemetery is so great.

I thought that the location of the film was unreal, but it belongs to a real town, how scary ... !!, a lot of German influence in the architecture of that town. In southern Chile, in South America, there are towns founded by 19th century German immigrants, which are similar to the one in the video.
