Chris Voss joins Will Barron on this episode of the Salesman Podcast to discuss negotiation tips and tactics straight from the FBI.
-- How To Negotiate --
The show is kicked off with Chris explaining that there is a balance between the negotiators conscious and subconscious efforts to influence the other party.
"We know that our brain only has the capacity to make so many decisions on a given day" - Chris Voss
Chris then shares the importance of understanding the beliefs that the other person holds so you can structure your negotiation in a way that ticks their boxes.
"You want to take a step back to start with and give the other side room to talk" - Chris Voss
The show is wrapped up with Chris describing the 'guided discovery' process and why going for a no might actually be the best thing to do in a negotiation.

A NO CAN BE A GREAT ANSWER AND NOT JUST AN OBSTACLE TO OVERCOME This Interview is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Shalom

Thank you! Friendly feedback for the interviewer: it shouldn’t take 1-2 min to ask a question. Great practice is to shorten the questions. Interviewers on podcast can talk more but not on KZbin. It’s a different setting. Thanks again.

I don't know how I got here, but I did, and I just bought the book off Amazon. Amazing interview. But that rant at 26 minutes on podcasts was way too long, lol, thanks for the laugh! No I love you ;)

Oh I know how I got here. I searched for Chester L. Karrass the "In Business As In Life- You Don't Get What You Deserve, You Get What You Negotiate." Maybe one of those old timers you bad-mouthed Red! Lol no I agree with you, but on the flip side human nature is timeless. Some things are timeless and universal. Like love. Always love. The world needs more love. It fixes everything pretty much, if you really think about it. If the world was run completely on love. Negotiating. This is too deep I ain't no philosopher, heh. I am trying to find God.

Elmer Fudd doesn't get what Chris Voss is telling him. He seems to keep seeking ways to cut the other party's hand off at the wrist because they were reaching for their chips, while slashing their throat with his other hand. Chris Voss + +; salesman podcast - -.

I agree Timberhawk, negotiation does not have to be robbing the other side! Chris comes at it in a pure way and “Elmer” keeps wanting to be a crook - Chris never got through to him...unfortunately

You have control yes, but not over anything involving someone else. If they don't allow it what you want doesn't matter. So you have no control.

+Fabio Soares because that gets people in the door. The logo is changing soon though. I've been thinking about your previous comment though, I'll wear a shirt when recording this week's episodes and see how it looks. If you've said I look scruffy, there's probably another couple of hundred people thinking it :).
