If you go again keep going through the village and straight on and you’ll see all the old tanks, and it’ll then bring you out in Warminster. It’s about the same distance as the ride to the village off the main road you came in on. Possibly better views the other way too. It’s a beautiful place.

Another good ride out Sandy. I've been to Imber a number of times while I was in the military, believe it or not all at night time while on war game exercise. Can be a very evocative place when the full moon is up and the still of the night holds all your senses! Good video , keep them coming. Now you better spend the day cleaning your bike. Regards Moose

What a great ride and what a great surprise bonus discovering that you actually had the access of such an interesting and historical old village (Imber.) That must have been a pretty little village in its day. I hope that they are willing and able to continue to open it up for public view every once in a while for many years into the future. History is so important not to let go of. I am so thankful that there are still so many people that are still interested in it and continue to cherish it. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us my friend. See you on the next one.

That would be awesome if they would allow a drone flight there but I have a feeling it's off limits and should the drone land somewhere it shouldn't they wouldn't let me retrieve it? It was a great day, really enjoyed it. If we had continued past the village we would have ended up a Warminster. Maybe another ride for when Imber is open again is to ride to Warminster, the pick up the Imber road, and ride back home going through Imber on the way?

Nice ride Sandy, the Americans took over Salisbury Plain for training during the build up to the D Day offensive, that's how the village got destroyed, they done live fire training and blew the place up, the reason the residents weren't allowed back, there wasn't much left. The last building on the left as you went tank hunting was the old Pub, opposite that was the old Court house, most of the buildings in the centre are 70's rebuilds, with a few skeletonised original buildings amongst them. All the best.

Despite telling the villagers they would get their village back, they never did. So sad, especially the old cottages and school etc. I have seen many videos over the years, but never actually been there. Tyneham Village near to Kimmeridge in Dorset is worth a day out. Up until 1943 Tyneham was a bustling village with a thriving population, but during the Second World War villagers were forced to flee, never to return. Tyneham's population were given just 28 days to clear out of the tiny village so the military could make use of it, leaving their homes behind. The villagers were supposed to move back to the picturesque village, just off the Jurassic Coast, but Tyneham was subject to a compulsory purchase act by the British Army, and soldiers continue to use the site as a firing range to this day.
