As we approach Oct. 7, the one-year anniversary of the slaughter of 1,200 innocent Israelis who were peacefully enjoying a music festival, the same "world leaders" should ask themselves why they keep pretending it didn't happen, and why the "Palestinians" are the only victims they care about. Hamas is STILL holding hostages from that day, whole year later. Last I heard 47 had already died in captivity, and they had just murdered another six. Where is all the international outrage about THAT?

Such IGNORANCE AND HYPOCRISY! "Palestine" was never more than a large and borderless area, but many people are confused and think it ever was and still is a COUNTRY. It's shocking how many people don't realize that MOST of what used to be called "Palestine" is now part of Jordan, and the Golan Heights part is now in Syria. (Strangely, nobody is expecting Jordan and Syria to give that land BACK to people who still pretend they live in a non-existent country.) Unlike so many people we keep hearing from, I've LIVED in Jerusalem, where I went to Hebrew University. The Western Wall that Jews pray at was built centuries before Muhammad was even born. There are Jewish families that have lived in the city for centuries, too. Their ancestors never left it. Ignorant people like these think people should "get out" of the country where they were born and raised, and where their ancestors have always lived -- but they have no problem with the English occupation of Ireland, or the Arab-on-Arab massacres in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. No problems with that! Israel has always been a country where many groups have lived together: Jews, Christians, and later Muslims. There are Arab Members of Parliament in Israel, and many *Arab Israelis* live and work in the country -- many of whom I met. The DISPUTES are from deluded people who somehow think it only belongs to them. NO, it doesn't.

Sally rooney is irish, which to my understanding makes me believe that the history of ireland and its relationship with england, allows the irish people to emphathize with the palestinians as they see a conmon struggle. Add the norther ireland dispute into the mix and we can also assume rooneys support for the palestinians isnt just just out of her good heart but also a political one. During my trip to dublin i was astonished to see the vast number of irish people turning up in comparison to londons rather multicultrual, almost bullying and fundamentalist protesters.
