I did some research on it. It comes from ancient Indo-European tradition. The Indo-Europeans believed that spirits resided in trees and that if you knocked on the wood of the tree, you gained the protection and good favor of the spirits in the tree. Somehow the tradition managed to survive for thousands of years and it overtime just became a superstition in cultures all across Iran, Pakistan, India, and Europe. This is where the English expression "knock on wood" comes from.

Lmao omg I love her! My husband is Mexican, he has been here for 18 years and he still has an accent! My kids and I make fun of his accent and also deal with past and present tense pronunciations. I love it
@noraparra80295 жыл бұрын
I once read, do not make fun of people with an accent, because people with an accent speak two languages, or more, do you?
@DemiandDavid045 жыл бұрын
Nora Parra I speak 4 languages actually :) I do not have an accent. My husband speaks 2 and my children speak 2. When you’re in the comfort of your home, with your husband, it’s humor between you. But, outside of my home I never make fun of an accent. Just not something that comes into my head Bc I understand where they’re coming from

Jimmy you should do a "try not to laugh challenge". With all those fake laughs you could be world champion
@AdamC20137 жыл бұрын
fp9623 apparently he does it because he says his job is to make the guest look good and funny. If he didn't fake laugh they would fall flat and not return to the show.

@AdamC If it's true - and it would not surprise me - then either celebrities really are dumb or accept to be in this kind of ridiculous situations...
@AdamC20137 жыл бұрын
TheCapitaineCarnage I think it's more the movie studio and publicists. They tell jimmy what to say, ask, and lead the celeb to a joke which he needs to laugh at. The celebrity gets told where to be and when, and what story they should say. It's a weird world 😶
@idewapura7 жыл бұрын
it's up to the host to make jokes and also keep the guest comfortable. Jimmy needs a conan session.

Pokito jajaja :P I was the last of 3 - my parents were a bit like 'ah can't be fucked' so my 2 older siblings are almost fluent trilingual... which kinda sucked for me when I actually went to see my abolita in Mexico. My first language was actually Dutch coz I was in Holland with my mum for almost a year when I was learning to talk but I've lost it all, only know the 'bad' words when I'd be getting yelled at while in trouble for being a shit of a kid lol

My mum's actually Dutch-Indonesian (her family fled Indo after the Dutch invaded blah blah blah) but then my cousin's half aboriginal, my nephew's half Scottish, got a niece that's half Norwegian... yeh we're a bit of a mongrel lot, bit of a mutt Bradgelina family lol
