ModDrop is another option for keeping mods sorted. It's integrated with NexusMods as well, so it'll automatically grab and sort the mods for you. You can even create multiple loadouts with it, if you do multiple different modded runs.

Thanks for the video! Though I do find it a bit weird that you aren't even mentioning Vortex, the mod manager from Nexus Mods. It supports Stardew Valley natively, so you can just download the mods through Nexus over the "download with manager" button. It also has profiles, allows you to disable and enable as needed, and has an update function integrated. Since you can then freely switch between versions, unless you deliberately delete old versions, you could set it up, that one profile uses a newer mod version and another profile an older version.

1.5 feels like mods finish any loose ends. 1.6 feels like the definitive unmodded version of Stardew Valley. So I'd recommend if you previously played 1.5 with mods, try it without mods first. At most when my PC is fixed I'll install automation, that mod that makes machines use stuff from chests assuming it's compatible with 1.6. even then it's not my biggest requirement for me. Honestly 1.6 just blew it out of the park

My first modded playthrough was on Steam Deck, and it was super easy to mod. I haven't gone back to it since 1.6 dropped because I've been playing vanilla and loving it, but I plan to soon! I also use Star Drop, because it's awesome.

I'm on my second modded SV playthrough right now. Played vanilla almost always, and I did vanilla first once 1.6 went live, then I adjusted my mod loadup accordingly. I never use the mods that adjust visual appearances as I like the vanilla sprites/portraits as is. There are some mods I use that add minor things, including giving Shane a new job after completing the community center. My expansion of choice is Ridgeside Village. Since this mod adds a large amount of characters and I'm not that social, I have Part of the Community + Friends Forever mods so I can make sure I don't lose too much.

When I started modding on my Steam Deck, I used a step by step video like this one. Super easy, the only complication was that I had to find my game folder since my game is stored on my SD card. *Most* mods I've tried have worked really well on Steam Deck, though I've found that I had to launch the game from the gaming mode for everything to work properly (sometime it wouldn't recognize the controller input if I launched the game in desktop mode). I also have to remap the commands for a lot of mods, of course, but that's easily done. And some mods just don't work at all, they never recognize the key inputs (especially the back keys). Overall, I'd say it's been a pretty great experience. I still haven't figured out how to mod other games lol, but I'll get there at some point 😅

I use my back buttons for mod controls a lot, you just need to use steam input to set it up! for example, the chests anywhere mod has B as a default activation key, so I edit the controls in steam, enable the back keys, and select one of the buttons to press the B keyboard button when that button is selected. works for all mods as steam is sending the input, so they only know that the keyboard key was pressed.

Ah so using a mod organizer I DON'T have to keep multiple backup folders of batches of mods to manually swap in or out therefore avoiding doubling, tripling, or sometimes copying even more, of my common mods and saving redundant space? Uh.. Of COURSE I knew that haha LMAO

Every fucking mod goes red. I download everything in the requirements and it just says smapi doesnt support it. Whats thw actually point of using it if 90% of the mods arnt working. And its not me because i played modded terraria and it always works.

Yes! As a mac user, I can verify the process is the same. The only difference is that you should use the Mac installer for smapi and there will be a different file path (same steps to find and use it) and mac has terminal instead of command prompt. Have fun modding!

As far as I know, you can also disable a mod by adding a "." as a prefix to the mod folder name (that makes it "hidden")

I’ve found that Content Patcher tries to make mods that aren’t 1.6 compatible still work in 1.6, with a warning in SMAPI that it’s tried but might be a little broken. I’m able to use old mods to change the look of paths just fine!

I used stardrop, but it somehow crashed for me one week after 1.6 release. I've been sorting the mods by its folders on explorer ever since. Maybe it's time for me to check stardrop again.
