Love your videos. You voice stinks of experience 👍. Only ever caught 1 salmon. 5lb on the upper Severn in the mid 80’s as a teenager whilst coarse fishing. The fact that I still remember it now tells its own story ✌️😉

Were they both hatchery fish? And how do you tell? When do you decide to switch from fly to spinner? Thanks for the vid!

One of each, the smaller fish was a wild salmon and the bigger fish was a hatchery. When the fish is a hatchery fish they clip the adipose fin which is just above the tail so that it can be identified. As for changing to spinner the water was very high so spinner was the best option at that time but as soon as the water dropped the fly came out because it is my most successful technique in most conditions.

Lovely clean fresh fish...do you use a sink tip on your line?
@MrKingfisher34 жыл бұрын
The tip was a 10 ft. 1.5 ins per second clear intermediate tip, normally I use the 10 ft. 3 ins per second polyleader but the water being so slow the intermediate or a tapered leader would work.

All the other anglers left not knowing that just when its getting dark is a magic time like dawn is. 2 am too 4 am is best for sea trout on my river, investigate before you fish,

Most of the rivers that I fish for seatrout the best time is the first two hours after dark, for salmon just after dawn and again in dusk can be very productive. putting in the time is the only way to learn these vital tips.
