Great stuff. Looks a bit deep there! Some places you can just tell you'd disappear if you tried wading!

True, it's normally about a foot deep in low water but with the high water conditions it's more like 6 or 7 feet deep fast and dangerous.

Fished flying c for years but always cast just slightly downstream. Is upstream better? Does the spinner spin as well upstream?

Yes. you can get better depth, cover the lies properly and a spinner coming directly downstream at a fish will either move it or hook up. As you were saying about the spinner working well upstream it is a very delicate feel but you will know when the blade is digging in or just fluttering. In my experience the brand new flying C's work well but after tapping a few rocks start to lose that positive spin so try a new spinner upstream feel that pull from the blade digging in and that's the way it should be everytime if it's not doing that then it's not working right. Many anglers cast 10 times and maybe 2 are working and fishing right the other 8 casts were wasted because the spinner isn't working properly. Everything in upstream spinning is feel , after a while you will know when you're doing it right.

how do you usually land your fish alone ? do you always beach them. this season i was fishing alone with my 15 foot salmon rod , and I got a salmon bout 5 pound , I tailed it alone . it was my first time doing it ever. I'm thinking is it easy break a rod doing that over the angle although I did have alot of line out I remember you said your oracle broke , did it brake that way ? have you used them since ? I was thinking of getting an oracle switch rod

I usually fish alone but it is better to land your own fish because if you lose it you only have yourself to blame.. Never beach a salmon directly under the rod because that critical angle will break the rod. The oracle switch 8/9 is the better rod the 7/8 was just too light especially in 11 ft.

@@MrKingfisher3 you use the oracle still yea ? just I was thinking of getting one but I've heard of a few breaking but I also hear they are a great rod so I'm wondering would I better off spending 300 euro etc on a better switch

Hi Timothy I haven't used the Oracle switch for a while especially since I got my own 10 ft blank and customized it for my style of fishing. I prefer a 10 ft switch rod because of the extra power you have in the shorter rod and it's better for overhead casting as well. As I have said the 8/9 Oracle is a good rod for the money.
