Salmon Fishing Lake Michigan - Part 1 - The Coho Run!

Hi everyone, just wanted to put a quick video out on the fast approaching coho run on Lake Michigan. For beginners or those that just want to learn more, I go over the very basics of the run.

Great report and thank you for the lure information, I have tried lake Huron with some success also St. Clair River. I think a spring trip to south west Lake Michigan is worth a try this year

When the coho are thick it's definitely worth the trip!

I agree, I have hit Lake Huron and the St. Clair River but have never gotten into them like I see on these videos from Lake Michigan. Need to plan a trip.

when do you decide the run has started? Warm weather, like consistent 45 degrees, or maybe water temp goal?

Yes, usually water will start to get mid 40s and the alewives will stack along the shoreline to spawn. This will last 3-4 weeks then when the alewives push offshore post spawn so do the coho and the "run" is over. Most years it starts last week of April through May 15th.
