Thank you for capturing and sharing what is probably the most amazing footage I have ever seen. You guys did a magnificent job. I've never seen the intelligence of a wolf more starkly demonstrated. Next s/he will be standing up on its hind legs! Really amazing how well everybody gets along. Thank you so much!

+Andreas Larsson Brass tacks time. You have to kill a either a wolf or a human. No other choices. No other context. No smell, taste, sight, sound or touch to guide you. Just the certain knowledge that the choice is yours to make and that you're going to make it. Whether by poison, pen or a simple click of the fingers you will make the choice. The totality of all your past experience is the only prism through which your choice can and will be made. What do you choose? When you answer that question honestly then you will most definitely know which you value more......humans or wolves. Ultimately, as with almost everything in this life, value assignment is a totally un-collaborative effort. It's all about you baby. It's only as simple or complicated as you choose to make it. Human vs wolf? Either way it's simple.

I just returned from that area and it was a gorgeous place and I had an amazing time. Thanks so much for sharing and look froward to more. Do you have the photographers name who was with you? It seems the tail is down expressing submissiveness of the bears. Watch the behavior of both wolf & bears while they are in closer proximity, the submissiveness is more obvious then, but the wolf consistently is expressing this throughout the entire clip.

Brad, I have liv egg d in AK the past 35 years as a bear viewing and fishing guide all over AK, this looks like the Katmai area, right? What you might not know is here in Southeast AK on Prince of Wales Island, biologists I know who study their diets in summer say most of their diet is salmon during summer,plus these wolves are a unique genetic strain of AK wolves due to their unique remoteness of Southeast Ak Islands of Southeast AK.

Coyotes live everywhere in Alaska, as far south as Juneau and just barely into the arctic region. They're more common in the forests, especially the rivers. They don't live near road systems, and even if a coyote does build a den near a road, AWCC will relocate them. This "wolf's" posture, tail, build, and head all look like a coyotes, not a wolf. The only thing wolfish about it is it's size, but Alaskan coyotes are known to get pretty large.
@slate27206 жыл бұрын
Seeing that huge ass bear on their hind legs like that, now I really understand how someone in the dark or far away could see them as a sasquatch in areas with bears present. Bears and wolves are both such beautiful creatures, but if a bear was loping in my direction like that I'd nearly piss myself. These carnivores are far more fearsome than I would have thought maybe 3 years ago. Now imagine a damn short-faced bear looking at you like that, didn't those beasts stand at one story tall or more? Not as afraid of the wolf until they brings their mate, siblings, and pups of previous seasons along with them to meet you.

The wolf is a little lost…he doesn’t seem to be able to pick up the sent the way the beat does. It kind of looks like the wolf is alert to the bears show of force , and hostile movements. She smells something in the air. A potential threat.

They may have learned from the bears, but isn't it also plausible they have figured it out on their own?.
@wilsonblauheuer654411 жыл бұрын
That's a female wolf, not a coyote, in my estimation. The bears probably don't consider her any threat, and maybe- they like the company- if she is there- an enemy pack is not likely to be around.orizon.

@saoboni808111 жыл бұрын
Not an Alaskan coyote. Especially the further up north you go, the larger they get. They have been known to get up to five feet in length (about the size of a normal grey wolf in the 48) Then there's the fact that most coyotes here are actually wolf hybrids. The hybrids usually look like giant coyotes. From this "wolf's" appearance, it's more then likely actually a mix between a wolf and a coyote then an actual wolf.

It's not a wolf, it's a coyote. The face tells the story. It also has the body of a coyote. Coyotes also have the tendency of slinking as they walk, wolves don't.
@bradjosephs11 жыл бұрын
no, i can assure you they are all wolves. coyotes only live along the road systems in alaska, like along the alcan highway corridor. these are wolves, no doubt.
@csisoldier12 жыл бұрын
It's a red wolf so it looks smaller compared to a grey wolf
