Thank you for sharing the video, it brings back a lot of memories of my time with Swan Wooster Eng. in 1967. We commuted by International Harvestor crew cab trucks from Stewart to the Tide Lake Camp each day until the bunkhouses were constructed.

I worked at Granduc Mines in 1966 as a young man after I had completed my Degree course in London. I had been hired in New York by Newmont for a 4 months contract. The company were generous and the experience was fantastic. I still talk about it to this day and I helped start the weekly Christian service on camp.

Very cool! Was up there in Aug. 2003, found the filming site of THE THING (1982). It is just off the road and you can still see the bulldozed are where they built the Outpost #31 set clearly at 4:50 - 5:02 and 5:14 - 5:21. (Best shot of it is 5:18) Thanks for sharing, forgot how crazy Salmon Glacier Road is!!

My father worked in Granduc. I was born in Stewart. We left in 1963. He took some of us up there once. I think it was 1972. I have a bunch b/w of pictures from that trip.

I worked in the area in 1989 doing exploration work to the south of the old mine. It was one of the most memorable jobs I have ever had. If you are there are the right time you can see bears scooping salmon out of the river. Can you still get Hyderized??..lol

Just curious, were you hauling to a work camp up there? Lots of talk of people hiking in that region but there is also talk of work camps starting the mine back up?
@tysonv6867 жыл бұрын
Rob Hamborg this was a small camp for a crew of people building a power line from Stewart bc to the new pretivm mine I brought the groceries for them.

Curious - is there any indication whatsoever when you cross back into Canada as you head north? (I couldn't spot it in the clip, sorry if I missed it)
@tysonv6867 жыл бұрын
+DamnCactus yes there is. I didn't put it in the video, it's just a plywood sign that marks the border
@rodney4896 жыл бұрын
Years ago around 1980 there was a border cut through the trees.

Thanks very much for this wonderful video. I wonder what time of day it was shot and when is the approximate peak for autumn color in the area.
