Being able to grind on the boot INSTEAD of a backslide plate is exactly what I love about them. I don't know why anyone would want to experience such a good boot with different plastic but that's just me. I skated these over 20 years ago and still do. I also understand where you're coming from with supporting the industry. What I don't understand is how a skate this good that still has such a HUGE following has not been imitated. I think the industry needs to put out a skate very similar to this then we wouldn't have to buy old ones. Good video brother.

Heyyyy Ricardo, I have to congratulate you on making this review. You have my utmost respect for biting the bullet, but at least now you have made it clear once and for all. People are hoping for a manufacturer to pick up the moulds as that would be the skate people want on their feet. Like you said, it is mega comfortable. Just some pointers: - the ideal replacement shock absorber would be the Razor SL shock absorber. (Thanks to Alexander from the This Is Soul.nl shop) - as far as current gen soulplates go for the Salomon boot, Kingery Souls provides a set of soulplates where you do not have to cut / modify your boot that much. - there is an open source project for Salomon soulplates on Facebook called Salomon ST0, in which you can create your own 3d file that can be used for CNC creations. Once again thanks and much respect from the Netherlands.

I have a pair of Salomon Pilot 110. They used to make realy good skates and were active in the skating community. But Iagree with you : they decided to stop skating products not because they were losing money, but because it was not as lucrative as the other branchs. We need brands and people that promote our sport. Roces is not what they uses to be, Salomon retired. Powerslide does a lot for our sport and it's a good thing that Rollerblades got back in the game. We need the brands to get involed into the sport, we need more presence in the media. We need to not be a secret society

I know companies such as Subtract, kingsoul and night hardware appreciate people skaing salomons because they create aftermarket parts. Also most people skating salomons buy the SL heel shock absorbers. Salomons are an amazing skate and a big part of rollerblading history. Im sure alot of people that buy salomons also support other boot companies or will in the future. I have hopes that salomon will make a comeback in the coming years.

hi mate, don't know if this video is too old to read my comment but I think you should try the subtract souls that are specifically design for these skates and for the shock absorber, any usd aeon shock absorber will work really good. Y have seen dis video and the other video right, now. We discovered your Chanel last week 🤣🤣🤣 and we love it. But I understand your video talking about the industry and support the brands that still make aggressive skates. But remember, a lot of people using this skates are people that bought them when they are new, I'm still using my quad skates for street skating, now with new hockey boots. But we all buy new parts and protections.
@GmoLargey5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ricardo just came across your channel, plenty of great videos buddy. I've not skated for over 10 years, but back when I did I had USD Prius -lol, K2, and then loads of razors genesis from murdas to shima browns and the last straw for me was putting the frame through the bottom of the boot of my 3 week old Jeff Stockwell's, they later added the 1 piece soles for I assume to aid that problem, but while I was out of action I borrowed some Salomon st90 black skates and really loved them but struggled with torques, then when a friend quickly got into and out of skating I bought his st80's and chucked the razor 1 piece soles and backslide plate on, razor cuff buckles and reign liners, holy shit they were solid skates, still have them in the loft, all my other razors and such died eventually so credit to Salomon for making a solid boot, the shock absorber is still the best out of any skate I've had. I did try get back into it even purchasing the classic razor boot when they re released it as the st80's didn't fit anymore, no shock absorber in the heel was an immediate no for me, even bought a new brand liner to try help it but sadly they are sat in the loft too, since then I bought some salo feinbergs with the intention of doing up with custom sole plates again but have yet to start, in the UK at least, last time I tried shopping for ANY skate part or new boots there was literally 2 shops and both had an extremely limited range. For me the salo boot just works, I yearn for some classic tall white reign liners from the old shima genesis, the modern liners I've bought may technically be better but I need my foot loose not strapped down by the liner itself, the reigns were always perfect, not too tight but enough to aid with torques, I've still got Osgood's latters disease from my teens and a gammy leg from a broken tibia, so these old lust's of mine are somewhat justified, I've tried new and it's gone a different way, even my old skating buddy bought the carbon usds and hated the lightness and lack of movement, it's just what we we comfortable with at the time and still comfortable with now. If anyone had made it to the end of this, please link me to UK skate shops online, I still watch the videos and will one day get back up the skatepark, no hipster old boot movement just sticking with what I know, it's all changed now watching videos online, its now big wheels, flat setups, tall frames, moulded liners ect, I don't know where to start😂

What i hate about the new skates are that the soul plates, especaily at the back, are so wide nowerdays. Thats why im hesitating to buy new skates. I am searching for new skates, but havent found one, which would fit my criterias. Salomon st were the best skates, when i stopped skating at the end of the 90s and is still my fafourite. I have them and need to remove the old shock absorbers, because they become very uncomfortable and give me blisters when i skate too long. I need to replace them. But in general they feel very good. Im not sure what you mean with support for a royale, but we ( in the 90s) never need suoport for those kind of grinds. And if we touched the rail with the boot, was because we used to grind very deep. I was nearly "sitting" on my skates, when i did over/topside soul, unity or allyoop (topside) prn* . I find interessting that, inline skating/ agressive skating is still been practiced. Tought that it died 15 years ago.

These skates shouldn't be reviewed at this point. We know it's a superior boot! Solomon has more experience making boots then inline skate manufacturers because of their ski boot experience. They also had an endless budget to make them. That being said you should have at least upgraded the soulplates and replaced the shock absorber like everyone else who skates the skate. Also people who generally skate these skates don't just own one pair of skates. They have a selection to choose from just like you do and they skate these when they feel like it. I'm currently riding USD's and videos like this turn me off to them. Focus on your skating because honestly that's your best asset. This Solomon argument is old and looks like an attempt to grab views.
