This was a great video. Facinating. I recently read The Great Santini. I was laughing, crying, shocked, upset, moved. So I grabbed up My Losing Season and I’m flying through it. Already have his other books in my TBR. He is a master at putting you in another time and place with amazing characters.

What I would give to have a night of whiskey with Pat Conroy. It's such a rare gift to be able to bring this kind of light to such a hard lived childhood. It makes me realize how special it was to be raised in a different way. And a whole bunch of other lessons and insights too. I'm going to lay some flowers on his grave when I get a chance. He is buried in an interesting place. Look it up.

My father never spoke to me and I’m pretty sure my mother must of made a deal with him that if she could have one child she would do all of the raising and he would not have to. But after reading some Pat Conroy books I’m so grateful as i could have had a Pat Conroy childhood.

I'm from a tiny town in Texas, no ones heard of with some very wonderfully kind people and some ......uhhhhh welllll ya know stereotypical trumpkins (and some to my everlasting shame...fall into both categories are family). Have very similar background to Mr Conroy. OR rather my daughter son and i do. Broke the cycle though. Anyhoo I'll save the rest for my first book (that I hope we have at leat two literate people left in this country to read) Tjanks again Sir... Feel less alone now You did that!
