I’m glad you addressed this very important topic. You gave some great tips, but people who are used to dancing in large studios get used to taking big back rock steps. They end up stomping on the people behind them. Everybody needs to spend time practicing in a very small space to get used to smaller steps in general and back rock steps in particular.

Thank you for the tips! I’ve been looking for a while for tips on dancing salsa in tight spaces and the only thing anyone has told me is to keep my footwork tight and small. Your tips on the elbows was the most helpful for me and not something I’ve heard about from many people. I appreciate your videos and any other tips you both provide.

You r such an inspiring pack of teachers, really thank you so much! I enjoy it a lot how you both explain and show things, your vibes, loving and serious at the same time, and really plain easy detailed enough to understand a lot! I am currently in complete bachata beginner fever and been able to incorporate a lot of your tipps already to my few dances with my flatmates (we all learn lead and follow, no matter the gender) and we improved so much, and its a lot of fun, thank youuu! You know, also from a broader sociological or political standpoint, I really acknoledge that you upload all this stuff (like so many other great youtube teachers in all kinds of arts and crafts). I see it as part of an opensource culture which is "brotherly*sisterly" equal knonwledge to everyone. I hope you get enough reward as well, and that you are doing good. You look very happy at least, seems like good medicine ;) AND, maybe you explained it in another video already, but I also enjoy alot to see Marius sometimes doing what I would call probably Ballet? So beautiful, wanna learn as well :o) But first Bachata....

I like the "Wait a half an hour" comment. I've danced a lot in crowded clubs, but there comes a point at which it's just not worth it for me. That usually happens when, in spite of carefully occupying, protecting my space, and protecting the follower, we are still getting hit by other dancers. Then it's truly "Time to take a break." I don't want to get all "Gandalf mode" when I can get a dance a little bit later. Seen and also experienced a couple of ugly injuries when things get too crowded, especially if a neighboring couple has no awareness of the space of others. But I loved the Gandalph reference and insert, guys!

Thank you. And you are absolutely right. In general if it's "crowded" but "okay" you have to protect your space (your partner must be protected without saying) but there are couples that don't care and just hit left and right. That is another scenario like "how to handle ignorant people on the dance floor :)) " . BUT when it is so crowded that you can barely take a breath... it is time to take a break. It is much more important to enjoy a few dances than have a long streak of bad dances (now because of you, or because of your partner, but because of the circumstances).

In busy clubs, when the music changes, most people leave the floor. I try to identify the next song very quickly and hit the floor with my partner before the others and try to "claim" my space. Couples will usually continue making their way to the floor throughout the song... especially good songs. If it gets too busy, we'll break in the middle of the song, sit down and wait for the next good one... kind of like surfing and waiting for the next great wave. Of course, we've also been known to dance in the isles, the entryway or any place there is an open floor.

I discover dancing alone with closed eyes (to imagine someone's hand) helped me to feel what's around me and I never hit anything in my room even after minutes, it also helped me during parties.

This is what we call shadow dancing. It helps a lot with proprioception (knowing where your body is) and also it's really good for practicing combos.

Salut! Exista figuri de baiat pe care sa le execute cu partenera la bachata? De exemplu cum sunt head roll si rotirea. Multumesc si bafta in continuare. Foarte fain ce faceti👍👍

And protect your partner!!!!!! I say this because I had a beautiful dance partner. She went out without me and in the second dance of the night she got elbowed below the eye.. Ouch!!
@MariusElenaBachata3 жыл бұрын
Yes of course. That goes without saying. I was saying protect your space in the idea that you protect your partner also. Sorry to hear about the incident.
