Giving my thoughts on the Salsa Beargrease fatbike. Comparing it a bit to my Trek Farley 9.8 Please take a minute to subscribe to my channel, it would mean a lot to me.

Since there are not many Beargrease reviews on youtube, for the record you can easily fit 27.5x4.5" tires (I am running 45N 27.5x4.5 studded wrathchilds on my Beargrease). Otherwise agree with the crappy engagement on the Sun Ringle wheels, it is noticeable and worth an upgrade. With that said, overall a fantastic fat bike. Just add a dropper seatpost and setup tubeless.

Didn't know they could fit that size tire. Thanks for the info!

I'm considering both of these bikes and this video was SO helpful. Great info!

I bought a Farley 9.6 back in September, LOVE IT! Bike is fast and ride quality is awesome. I’ve been doing technical single track and getting PRs on it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Yes I agree. I had a 9.6 before I had my 9.8. The 9.6 was more comfortable, no question. The farleys are definitely fast

Handling-wise, which do you prefer for trail riding?

If the hubs are DT Swiss 350, the rachet is upgradable to 36 or 54 POE. Stock is 18 POE, or 20 degrees. Also, Sram Guide R brakes are two piston, IIRC. The Guide RSC are the four piston in the Guide series, I think?
@TheCranemeister4 жыл бұрын
Yes if I owned the bike I would definitely upgrade the rachet. As far I know all Guides are 4 pistons.

You're correct on the brakes :)

Just picked up the 2022 Farley 9.6(coming off a 18' Fatboy base model) and all though I haven't had it for a couple of weeks I'm loving every minute of the ride. Can't lie, looked hard at the Beargrease. So dang sexy(white body), well equipped, but yeah the major turn off was the stock 3.8.

Great video an I think Salsa claims their kingpin fork is = 100 m of travel
@TheCranemeister4 жыл бұрын
I never heard of that. But the fork is so nice. It's amazing how comfortable the bike is because if it.

No way, four inches of flex would be a noodle.

How much it weight
@TheCranemeister4 жыл бұрын
I would guess about 25 pounds. It was pretty light.

Change your Star Ratchet ring.

24 points is 15 degree. 8 degree is being too generous for that hub.
@TheCranemeister4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I had a feeling I was wrong. I should have done some math before making the video. But yeah that hub is nothing special.

@@TheCranemeister does the 3.8 provide any advantage over the 4.5 tires?
@TheCranemeister4 жыл бұрын
@@s14tat I didn't notice any advantage. They were a grippier tire so they didn't slide at all but the tires on my Farley are not so grippy.
@s14tat4 жыл бұрын
@@TheCranemeister I wonder why they even put a 3.8 on a fat bike since it kinda defeats the purpose of the fat bike.
@hoptard4 жыл бұрын
@@s14tat uhhhhhhh, because they're better for hardpack / roots / rocks trail riding stability/impact....the Fat Bike platform/purpose is NOT just for the sand or snow rider any longer. Since I race off-road motorcycles, I completely understand the point of the 3.8...any wider than 4.0....wouldn't be for me.
