Love the songo..but cannot seem to to get that clave with the left foot..is there an easier way to start with the cleave and incorporate playing with ie right foot,left hand? Any suggestions

Hey Andrew. A lot of traditional salsa tunes don't feature drums and usually, the only reason, I've played on a track is because I was in a band and had to play something! haha. That said, the patterns I demonstrated will work over most stuff. This track by Marc Anthony is pretty cool. Do the Cascara in the verses and the Songo in the chorus. As always though, the guys playing this stuff mess with it the same way we do over any other style. But this provides a good background to groove over! Marc Anthony - Valio La Pena (Salsa Version)

Muy bueno como ejercicio de independencia. El único detalle es que nosotros los cubanos no tocamos el Songo con un patrón de Son en el kick drum. Las notas en los &’s de los tiempos 2 y 4 no se tocan en el Songo. Tampoco tocamos clave de Son con el Songo, utizamos la clave de rumba.

Sounds like the accents make the most sense where you put them. Ive heard other versions that dont sound nearly as good and its because of the accent placement.
