To answer your question, yes the sword and shield is nasty when it comes to stopping damage all together. Some sets can take on more damage than others, but they all pretty can stop an attack cold with a perfect block.

Just bought it. After spending to much time with my dark souls 1-3 re-run and two rounds Elden Ring 😅. And all of it is your fault. Just because i startet with Nioh and then watched all your walkthroughs. Great Job you doin, keep goin Kollege ✌🏻😎

I've been rocking a tank build as a fighter for a bit now and it's pretty cool. My bro is running a mage build and he says it's pretty cool too. So yea hope that helps.

Enjoying my playthrough. I'm using heavy armor with a 2handed sword and a great blade as my second weapon. I hope I have enough skill points to make heavy armor, 2 handed swords, and great blades work. I'd also like to invest some in Forbidden and/or Divine Glyphs so I can use the weapon special abilities. Just enough points to unlock the required Glyph skills. Does anyone know if I'll have enough skill points to make this work or will I need to focus on fewer things?

Definitely feels more streamlined in terms of weapon classes but in the first one many weapons were not viable at all

All I know is that in the first game, trying to play a katana man was like playing with your hands behind your back. Yes, it was possible, I beat it even. But my second playthrough with a big ungabunga bam bam build felt like "oh, this is how the game wants you to play". If this streamlining business fixes that, I'll take it, because ima dex boy at heart. Edit: and I don't mean in a hard vs easy sense, because I like challenges. I mean it felt like the game didnt WANT you to play dex, while str was too easy. I'm hoping for a middle ground here.

Salt and sanctuary imo is the Better traditional souls-like. This game is a fusion of monster hunter with some souls dna.

In a way you're right, except it's not a bad thing. The dev's are genius because it doesnt just look like 2d dark souls. It FEELS like 2d dark souls. As in, they've almost perfectly translated all the game design principles that make those games great, and adapted them into a metroidvania mold. So, calling it 2D elden ring is accurate and a compliment. Because all the stuff you like about elden ring, you'll like here. and if you like metroidvania, you will almost certainly like this.
