Salt Lake City International Airport: From Past to Present

In December of 1920, Salt Lake City leaders needed a place for planes delivering air mail to land. They selected a place west of downtown and named it Woodward Field, after local pilot John P. Woodward. During the next 100 years, SLC developed the area into the 23rd busiest airport in the U.S. On Sept. 15, 2020, SLC is opening a new international airport in the same spot. I tried to get from the SLC airport to downtown SLC, several years ago by train. I had to walk a mile from the airport to get to the nearest train station, while carrying all my luggage. Great planning, SLC!

Last time I was in SLC was in 2016. WOW! So much change. Can't wait to see the new SLC Airport's look!

Fun fact: before the airline TWA (trans world airlines) went bankrupt they owned a lot of SLC gates until delta bought them

But the walking time at new airport people can walk to Utah in the same amount of time.
