It says in Genesis that when we ate from the tree of knowledge of everything (good and evil) that the animals became infected with it as well. They are right there with us - and we with them.
@SocialShires Жыл бұрын
@@rchelle87 It also says in the scripture that the horse is the only animal which willingly took the task to bring back the human race's soul. The horse forced humans to be true to itself and to others.

My daughter and I were driving up to Flagstaff from Phoenix a few months ago, passing through the Tonto Nat'l Forest. I saw a chestnut stallion standing with his small herd under some scrub for the shade, near a river bank. It looks so much like the chestnut in this vid, how amazing would it be if they were the same horse! And the grey Champ, wonderful how caring he is and animals are, and we get to see it when we stop and take the time to observe nature on its terms, not ours.

The most unusual thing here is that there are two mature stallions in Champ's herd. Champ, who seems to be the leader and a much older, battle scared chestnut stallion. It is very rare for two stallions to co-exist like that in one harem. I wonder if the old stallion is Champ's father, maybe the bond between them was strong enough to allow the old one to continue living in the herd once Champ took over......
@dindinprivate34776 жыл бұрын
MORE LIKELY IMO THE OLDER HORSE LOST DOMINANCE OF THE HERD IN BATTLE WITH CHAMP.
@cacatr44956 жыл бұрын
Dindin Private Usually, the stallion that loses the dominance-competition is driven out and away, not allowed to stay. There is only one stallion to a band, so this is very unusual, as CreekValleyCritters, the gentle hand of the mousey herd, said.
@dindinprivate34776 жыл бұрын
I'm a bit confused. If I understood this video corretly each of these two stallions had their own herd, which were drinking on opposite sides of the river. Champ crossed and they greeted each other, but neither tried to steal the others' mares. There was no obvious reason, that I could see for them to need a show of dominance. Especially so since they appear to be familiar with each other and may well have already fought to a draw between them.
@cacatr44956 жыл бұрын
Dindin CreekValleyCritters was talking about the 2 stallions in Champ's herd, not just Champ, but an older one as well. CreekValleyCritters wasn't talking about the herd across the river. Perhaps you didn't read the originating comment this time around.

loved visiting our Salt River horses when I need them the most. the first time was feb 2017 a week after my brother passed away. The moment I seen my first band ws very overwhelming and emotional the beauty can not be explained through words. . Then in Dec 2019 my mom passed away and needed my Salt River horses to heal me once again. My sister came to visit and I could almost hear the horses telling me come let us heal you. We went to see them again Feb 6 was exactly 3 years afters after my brother passed away. special thanks to the salt river wild horse management for helping to keep these beautiful animals not only free but safe I can not thank you enough for the work you do.

What a shining example of what *family* is supposed to be. A strong father protecting his daughter, and getting her to safety. We humans could learn a lot by observing them. That being said, It is a travesty to say the least, that The Forest Service announced that they were going to round up these majestic icons of the West. The horses that could not be adopted were going to be disposed of. Disposed of like they are peices of nothing. Thank God, the people out here gave a Loud Voice for the horses. The Forest Sevice is rethinking the whole matter. I am aghast to think they actually were gong to do this, today!!! For those of you who care, there is a precious group of Mustang saving Angels. The Cloud Foundation in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Contact them they are very well versed in these matters; and if you can spare a few bucks, donate. Legal fees are costly, as well as care and feeding these precious horses. Abba Father protect your creation. I pray that someday, I will see them in Heaven.

+Bossladyone2 Amen to that! We must recognize how blessed we are to have these beautiful animals.
@cacatr44956 жыл бұрын
Bossladyone2 The Cloud Foundation actually participates in the darting of Mustang Mares with anti-fertility drugs to slow reproduction rates, their reproduction rates which show the horses are prospering. Their reproductive rates are not the problem, but that the public lands they have legal right to, are being given over to the use of the cattle industry, at the expense of the wild Horse. It is not an issue of " over-population" or starvation, but one of lobbyist money being given preference in the decision-making regarding the use of public lands. Perhaps they are darting Mares to try to prevent the forced surgical sterilization of Mares and Fillies in the wild, which they've reported as being the BLM's plan; see TCF's website and videos. The reality of the horse-bands prospering, and with the powers that be allowing cattle to graze on public lands, does away with the Horse-population/starvation arguments, so imposing anti-fertility drugs (which is legally " harassment", outlawed in 1971) doesn't address the real cause of this crisis, which is greed for more cattle-grazing land. This is a moral issue of Horses having preeminent right to live freely in public lands, over the interests of the cattle industry. The horses have the Law on their side, but monied-interests are playing against that Law, and fertility isn't the cause. Quote: " The Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971 states: It is the policy of Congress that wild free-roaming horses and burros shall be protected from capture, branding, harassment, or death."

I'm hoping they weren't included in the 100,000-140,000/yr they have been rounding up & transporting for slaughter in Canada & Mexico as food consumption in Europe.. As a child, I always loved animals, still do. My parents made me go to church Sundays and attend Catholic schools. But when I started understanding what the priests and nuns were teaching children about animals---that they are "thoughtless brutes," that they are mere "matter" (not spiritual beings like us) and devoid of a soul, that they exist solely for human use and benefit, that they should not matter in our regard and count for nothing, etc---I couldn't take it anymore, and turned away and against the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church: “Brute beasts, not having understanding and therefore not being persons, cannot have any rights. The conclusion is clear. They are not autocentric. They are of the number of THINGS, which are another’s: they are chattels, or cattle. We have no duties to them…. Nor are we bound to any anxious care to make [their] pain as little as may be. Brutes are THINGS in our regard: so far as they are useful to use, they exist for us, not for themselves; and we do right in using them unsparingly for our need and convenience….” Jesuit Joseph Rickaby on the “so-called” rights of animals." Here's an inconvenient truth: In 2012, a group of neuroscientists attending a conference on "Consciousness in Human and non-Human Animals" at the University of Cambridge in the UK, signed The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness. "The absence of a neocortex does not appear to preclude an organism from experiencing affective states. Convergent evidence indicates that non-human animals have the neuroanatomical, neurochemical, and neurophysiological substrates of conscious states along with the capacity to exhibit intentional behaviors. Consequently, the weight of evidence indicates that humans are not unique in possessing the neurological substrates that generate consciousness. Non-human animals, including all mammals and birds, and many other creatures, including octopuses, also possess these neurological substrates." The Declaration was signed by Stephen Hawking, among others. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWq0eoKgaK6Mq80

The last 20 years, science quietly studied animal intelligence and reported it little. Intelligence, the researchers said, evolved in other categories of species, in parallel to not nec. Primates, but Humans. A crow has a higher measurable IQ than a chimp, and an Umbrella Cockatoo, may have. One dog owning scientist stunned and astonished his primatologist colleagues by bringing his pet to the university, one day after they scoffed at him for claiming his dog will look towards where he points with his arm and hand, w/o such specific training. A Chimpanzee will never learn to follow the direction of a pointing hand, or build tools with a Raven's ingenuity & dexterity.

@thomasfaltejsek10 жыл бұрын
Of course they care about their herd but in this case, it didn't look like the filly was drowning or being swept downstream at all, stallion just making sure the band stays together. Stallions aren't really 'respectful old friends' either. But maybe by making up some stuff it will get people more interested in donating to protect the horses, which hopefully they will do. The animals deserve to be protected, whether they act like fairy tale animals or not.
@dindinprivate34776 жыл бұрын
You are correct L Canaday. More likely these two stallions have met in battle before and learned to respect and back off from one another, especially if none of the mares is in season LOL And yes, they do deserve our protection w/o being fairy tale animals.
@cacatr44956 жыл бұрын
Canaday The Painter who took these still-photos, has made frequent visits to observe these Mustangs, and was there to observe these moments that were photographed. The Painter doesn't need to "make up stuff" to create "fairy tales." If there's no Mare in heat being competed over, then there's no reason to fight. Stallions take seriously their job to protect their band, not just from predators, and they're loyal to their own. We can clearly see the high water level on the filly, and the ripples showing the river's active movement, while we know that a young filly, not weighing much, would be washed away. While I might normally applaud your skepticism, I think that in this instance, it's unwarranted and over-the-top.
