Medieval Western music actually sounds like Midde Eastern music except that they didn't microtones as individual notes but an artistic style to make the music fuller: similar to vibrato.

The similarities are superficial at best, mostly thanked to instrumentation. And there a very different types of European medieval music. This is a relative simple song, dance music will be different and religious music (polyphonic music) also.
