Fix is simple... when you drop out of nav you get "full" shields (all your movement energy shunts to shields, that energy is proportional to velocity squared) but your other caps are empty. This is also the best situation for someone being pulled out of quantum by pirates, actually droping out of quantum should be enough to charge shields, guns, and boosts. It also makes ballistics advantageous because they don't have to charge after dropping out of nav, but you get limited ammo in exchange. If an interceptor can only kill 2 or 3 incoming ships before it runs out of ammo and has to jet... then it's functioning like an interceptor rather than a brawler. You might also want to increasing the nav mode speed of an interceptor, decreasing the same speed slightly and slightly decreasing turn speed. And you might consider needing to boost to "enter" nav mode at good speed otherwise nav mode acceleration is a bit "sluggish" (someone in scm boosting after you can apply damage for a while). Surely someone is going to say just quantum boost to get all full caps back, sure but that takes you away from a fight, just make coming out of quantum boosting inaccurate enough in forward direction distance enough that you can't quantum boost into a fight unless you've got a mantis at the target to stop you there.

The interceptor class I believe should work like interceptors or the p-47 in war thunder. I know it’s hard to compare the two games but. Interceptors are uncatchable. They are faster in a straight line but lose all energy when turning and any turn fighting is a death sentence. They also have tons of guns, so if they line you up at all you just pop. You need a team to help you set up kills. I’m not going to pretend like I’ve extensively tested master modes, but I think a ship being faster and hitting hard is perfectly fine. You have to think and set up the kill. Either the interceptor runs. Or you hard turn to avoid being lined up and they miss every shot and/or they slow down enough to become a sitting duck. I think a lot of issues stem from players trying to play new flight models like the old model instead of adapting.

p-47 is not an intereceptor that was the p-38 lightning for the americans and the brits had the spitfire. What you are thinking of is the boom and zoom flying style that the p-47 was good at and not turn fighting.

A cool master mode would be no ammo refills but you bave to dock on an idris or a station to see how often people do reload, vs conserve ammo.

He's suggesting a lot more nuance to this than actually exists. If you get targetted, shif-W and come back to third party a target. That's all there is. Power triangle goes to whatever system youre currently using. That's it. No flight technique, no further tactics.

They need to make missles a bit more scary to interceptors by either linking insane ir rating to engine power. 😅 or linking the interceptor role to a % increase of heat levels

@markreiffel807 True, but at the same time the Buccaneers has it choice of fights, so the more it dips out, the lower the flares and then the lower the chances it will live. Making it a risk/reward as he is paying for every pass he is making. The person he's targeting is paying with tanking every pass he is getting then getting the opportunity for a bit of payback if he tries to just dip. Rather then mess with its speed, better to buff something else.

The zoom function slider is actually something thats been in game for a long time. I have had it bound up to my hotas since 3.19 or so, its very useful when hitting distant targets, but it IS different to the new precision zoom mode or whatever that MM uses.

A great option for reloading on the fly in the PUO would be having ammo boxes that can be changed out like components

Imagine making a flight system based off of "what felt the most fun" when testing 2 gladius against each other for a single player game. then finding problems when you introduce different styles of ship and pvp with experienced players.. amazing work thinking ahead CIG...

FINALLY SHIPS FEEL UNIQUE WITH THEIR OWN PERFORMANCE ENVELOPE AND UNIQUE GAMEPLAY STYLES AND STRATS. If CIG can give each ship their own unique game play and character akin to each Overwatch character favoring certain skill sets and preferences this will be a MASSIVE WIN on the gameplay front!

While I do think the buc has a meta advantage in terms of speed right now, I do think all interceptors will have that in some way as that is how they intercept. Fastest in trait line sprint but not a brawler once the fight is joined. They are really designed to get in fast and destroy before it truly becomes a fight. As far as using PIN the best part of pin is scrolling thru them when looking for the next target, you can easily and quickly asses enemy shield and damage status to help determine what target to choose.

Overall, I love the fighters in SC. In terms of inspiration, I'm looking at the Hornet as SC's Colonial Viper, the Scorpius is SC's X-wing, the Fury is SC's Tie Interceptor, and the Bucc is SC's Z-95 Headhunter that's been heavily modded by pirates.

I don't have play bucc, but I see no reason to nerf it. Just because it plays its role well is not a reason to nerf it. It's down size is lack of turning and if it gets focused it does drop fast.

Vergil has great battlefield awareness and trigger discipline. He knows the strengths and weaknesses of the ship he is flying and also his enemies ships. He seems to know who to attack and when to attack them. He also knows when to run. .. I have none of those traits but I think they are all something that would come with practice. Maybe.

The Hornet and the Buccaneer have almost the same weapons loadout. The Hornet has the option to switch the 2S1s for a single S3, and in the MM test the Hornet has 2S2s instead of the single S4 on the back, but otherwise both ships are 1:1 weapon mirrors to each other.

so when it comes to these small ships of any size won't this be addressed with repair mechanics gameplay since large ships will be able to self repair and most small ships will have to find a dock or something like a large ship to operate out of

I flew the buck in Master modes for 3mins in Arena and immediately knew it was the best ship in Master modes. Its the only ship that will allow you to escape against multiple enemies come back and reengage.

The fact using it effectively depends heavily on situational awareness, experience and tactics makes me hope they dont nerf it into the ground. There are situations other than 1v1 dueling when a brawler type ship is the better choice, and that is how these ships should be balanced.

Bucc and Hornet have same set of hardpoints. One s4, 2 s3, 2 s1, you can give them identical loadouts.

i think the way to balance it would be to reduce the general speed but make thrust exceed max speed and give ships like the buck better thrust acceleration speed and thrust time but give it a slower Regen that way the buck can run as intended but if it dosent watch its cool down or isn't given any time to do so its going to get court out wile a gladuise would have more staying power as long as its 1v1 you should also take longer to jump away so you will wont to get out of the combat before jumping

CIG should not make any changes on this type of stuff until the game reaches Beta. There are so many incomplete ships, weapons, missions, environment effects, NPCs, Law system passes, armor, etc…. I just think there are so many factors that go into a fight to say one ship is better than another. Situation, player skill and knowledge with determine the winner in most engagements.

CIG have said they are getting all the ships balanced and implementing the MM changes for the upcoming 3.23 patch. My question is why are they not putting bundles of ships into AC when the work is complete. Got 5 ships done this week? Sweet add them into a hotfix. 6 the week after? Great, more diversity. The work is done for the majority of the ships according to Yogi so i do wonder why they are not using this time before Live to test them

Given the size and position of the engines I was disappointed with the Yaw rate. It should be much quicker if you turn one engine off to make the turn. Which is clear whenever you lose an engine, but not when you have both? That's just weird.

Haven’t fully watched the video but my issue is you can’t really say the buccaneer will be a meta ship in 3.23. Right now in mm you have gladius, bucc, super hornet, vanguard warden, Connie andromeda, and Merlin. How does a bucc compare to a 325, arrow, or any of the other interceptors. We don’t know and won’t know till 3.23 is out.

Buck should just work like real world interceptors. SCM engine lag. Interceptors engines are inefficient at low combat speeds. They are high speed missle platforms. Not dogfighters.

the stupidest thing about master modes is not being able to shoot guns or charge up shields in normal flight modes which is required for gate jumping right. so that means as you are flying threw wormholes ect, which normally you should have a shield up to protect you from worm hole passage destabilizations as if it were to collapse from a stellar storm as it should have shielding present in the first place even in flight modes. 2nd of all is, what of the trade lade interdiction ships. right, ships and cause warp destabilizers to prevent ships from jumping into warp, or pulling ships in warp out of warp. as it takes 36.4s to 2.82min to charge some large shield. you mean to tell me... a brand new rsi polaris (with near to no armor as bounty 2.0 with hull and component hp + adaptive armor values isnt even in yet) is gonna be pulled out of warp, and its gonna take 3-12 min to charge those capital shields and completely vulnerable to whatever the hell happens after as the ship transitions from flight mode to combat mode, and then has to power up shields? as it will be dead before the shields are fully powered up to 20% capacity. just a WTF FYI, everyone is refusing to look at about mastermodes!

then theres the matter for ceritan guns not being usable in swap modes later on, which wouldnt be active in flight modes because they are active hard points. which would be elemental for ship towing, or scrap salvage that doesnt fit into a ships hull but needs to have an active tractor beam set to the target to enter warp. as master modes suggest, nope no guns in flight mode. so... REALLY!

as instead of finishing up hull component hp, and armor balancing with aero 3.5 storm system improvements. they been working on all these master modes primarily for light fighters because some players are bad at flying light fighters? creating a master mode system, which noone asked for, which prohibits present and future game loop and play mechanics. like wow, they really think this threw and didnt figure that out. but threw the production of master modes they realized, yeah all ships need gimbled guns for hard point equalities. primarily the rsi constellations. so lets be clear, WHAT DO MASTER MODES DO AGAIN which I COULDNT DO ALREAY? it breaks the game!

With Buccaneers in real application in PU there will be no wrench or bullets to save it. So is this the balance? I am trying to see where the Devs want the Bucc. 😊 Its not a brawler and it's limited in bullets and hull HP.

@@Traumglanz I think it does, because then it becomes a problem of scale and logistics, which is a non issue in AC. It's why Yogi was so adamant about Snubs not being as good as light fighters statistically, and why Avenger One's question "Why would i ever pick a snub?" in the Space Tomato cast misses the forest for the trees; You pick a snub when you can't field light fighters. I can take 12 snubs in my Idris into the verse, but i can't bring 12 gladius's flying formation without continually refueling them.

Bucc rules because Bucc have nothing to do in Interceptor category alongside M50, razor with 2x s1 guns. you can't balance a ship that is faster than everyone WITH the best dps among all Light fighter and some Med fighters, it gonna end just like the Hawk "it have a EMP omg ! let's divide its body HP by 2 !!" there is no step where it's balanced, it's either too stronk, or explode within 2sec, juste like the hawk. Classic CIG. There is always a meta : -Cargo that can fit in a Cutlass sized ship hangar ( polaris ? bmm ? (ex)): Black > Red -one shot something : idris > kraken -torp damage : Polaris > reta > eclipse. Just tell people what the "meta" letters mean, and ask them whats "the meta" snub for the Conniebetween merlin and archimedes, or wich Pisces.

So.. Jousting is the solution now? It seems pretty obvious the new fight is down to standardized loss of strategic style play in 3.23 Seems like just choose proper "loadout ship" then just Nav in, pin targets, shoot, "Nav Joust away" or "Nave Joust" through, re-pin targets, repeat? Looking like MMs has not only encouraged jousting, but put us in the exact flight "only one standard way to fly" many of us cringed at. Hope it's not

I don't think the current iteration of MM is the solution CIG thinks it is yet they are hell bent on it. After watching several podcasts it seems their interpretation of data is scewed. Most pilots that know anything about flight have issues with it. I played a little bit and found it lack luster. It was slow, boring, and arcadey feeling. The exact opposite of what I signed up for. We traded a light fighter meta for an interceptor meta. I don't see much positive here other than yes, flights are closer and some ships can't run away now.

I can't help but cringe when I see the repair, reload, and refuel icons. It's pure arcade. So long as it's restricted to an arcade mode (as it currently is), that's okay for the most part. However, balancing ships, weapons, and the overall dynamics of combat within an arcade setting would be a kiss of death to this game. The same would go for the fps combat as well. Having it as a test bed for basic things, and for mere entertainment for the players is one thing. But using it to tune fps combat in an arcade setting....that's how you get Call of Duty. I'm not pledging for an arcade game that is the antithesis of "the best damn space sim". I'd much rather something clunky, but more meaningful like ARMA.

Just need more ships in MM. Bucc has a LOT of potential counters once we have all the ships in. Thats game design babyyyy. Let's hope someone intelligent is going to balance all these ships in a fun way. Until then, i dont really care about PvP dogfighting in SC. Tho, i love the Bucc, so this might get me to actually do some PvP

here´s the thing... they are NOT balancing around 1v1... Pretty sure they even mentioned it. True, the game is not where it will be at some point, but it´ll mostly not revolve around 1v1 dogfighting, so for them it makes not alot of sense to balance the ships around that now. Also armor will matter, damage types will matter more etc etc. Making the game fun and balanced is also not a priority right now, people tend to forget that we´re still in the feature implement and system development phase and it´s not nearly about our enjoyment ;)

mmm interceptor doing interceptor things who would of thought it's just all the pvp sweats wanted every light (in the old model) to do what interceptors suppose to do when ships actually have roles in MM the play style they want to do from the old model will shine in actual interceptors in the new model. hit and not get hit unless they out turn you which will force you to slow down and then the interceptor is a sitting duck

It’s such an easy fix. Reduce it to one shield and half the HP. Then it’s more like calvary. Great for chasing down ships down and 3rd partying, but vulnerable to confrontation.

They keep making it all about light fighters.... Light fighters need to get destroyed by a hammerhead that is fully crewed... It should outrange them completely and the turrets need to be reasonably fast at turning without being excessively fast. IE: If the final 1.0 balance doesn't allow a crewed hammerhead to beat an equivalent number of fighters.... the game is doomed. Multicrew has to be better than split crew or it ruins the entire point of large ships existing. And a light fighter shouldn't even be able to penetrate the armor of a heavy armor ship (like an idris or polaris).

still comparing ships in 1 v 1. if its good at damage and straffing doesnt mean it will be the best for a full fleet of ships. other fighters will be better for the close quarters dps race that is to come over a fleet.

only reason the bucc dominates is that the F8 isnt in mm. he prob zooms in to more easily see witch way the oponent is turning. making ballistics shit again just means the bucc would go in fire all the lazers and go zoom out and reload. basicly how people play with shields now. wouldnt change a thing.

They've already allowed Mk II of ships. Do that with the Bucc. Split the bucc into two ships. Make one the interceptor with no top S3, it's faster and lower Shield HP. The other bucc could be a medium fighter with the S3 on top, slower speeds and higher shield HP Boom. problem solved and you make some money.
