had a roommate right before COVID that would get immensely angry at how he was playing every time he played a match with anyone else in the room. No one was playing competitively at all (there were times when someone really wanted to beat another person simply because they always won, but nothing else past that) but he was acting as if he was trying out for some tournament or team and would constantly pause just to yell at himself for messing up. It legitimately ruined most chances of people wanting to play Smash in our suite just because they didn't want to deal with it (myself included)

Ultimate in tournaments is extremely stressful, you don’t really know how your opponent will attack without obvious reads and the stakes are so high. It’s extremely demoralizing when you get K.O. from a simple move or spamming or taunting, it’s just better to play with friends and do it casually. For me I play as characters that have fun gimps like Hero or G&W and if I have to play legitimately it’ll be with Ken. It’s not worth the stress unless you wanna be a pro at the game. I’m not a pro but outsmarting and psychological plays are really important, any guy can do a cool combo but really getting into your opponent’s mind will make things easier
