Think I turned into a lure collector not a fisherman now ,trying to stop myself as 90% of my fish fall to a small red gill but they are so shiny 😂

Good video and instructive ..Ive purchased some metals recent times and i tend to re varnish over them with clear varnish , tends give them that extra shine , so far havent been out fishing for while so have had time to do such with holding lure on vice and re varnishing .

Although I've fished the River Wear here in the north east for almost 60 years, I'm new to sea fishing, many years ago I swapped out the trebles for singles on my lures and when I used Tobies, I added an extra split ring to the rear to cut down on leverage and increased fish loss. With my sea fishing lures, I'm in the process of swapping out the trebles for inline singles, much better for fish husbandry and my own safety too.

Good comment thanks, Another option i have been trialing is swapping the split rings for braid. We can learn a lot from course and game anglers here in the saltwater so appreciate your input

Great video and a good insite to lure fishing. With the treble hooks I'm a single hook guy just for the safety of the fish. Most off my fishing is catch and release. I keep the odd fish here and there, but the lass damage to a fish the better so I prefer a single hook rather than a treble. Fantastic video as always mate. All the best and tight lines 🎣🎣

Another great vid Matt, Those hooks though! I always put used lures in a zip food bag when i change over, and fill it with tap water at home before dunking on kitchen roll for a couple of hours. Hooks and lures last forever! 🙂

I have fished the savage gear weedless paddle tail a lot over the last few years and I have never had any issues with the body detaching after a few casts like you said.

Same here, the weedless sandeel is my go to, sometimes use the weedless minnow too. It is rather easy to push the toothpick through and miss the hole on the blade , then it will come off. Eventually the tail will wear after fish have grabbed it and 100s of casts and can come off, at this point just super glue to head, loctite gel is good.

Same for me, go to. The pack has an assembled lure & replacement body. The pre assembled one has the body glued to the head from new, as well as the cocktail stick.So I do the same when replacing.

Great video - I’m really enjoying learning about bass fishing. I’m struggling with the knot between braid and leader catching on the eye of my cobalt rod. What knot do you use?

If i was starting lure fishing again (in another life) i would buy and use nothing but soft plastic fish and crustacean imitations. The price of hard plastic fish imitations in the UK and Europe is just scandalous, the amount of cash i just threw into the sea that got stuck on the rocks and barnacles in my first season doesn't bear thinking about. If you are looking for big fish you will find them close to the shore, you know that Mathew, ive seen where you caught your big one, two or three rod lengths out, well within reach of a lightweight soft plastic. My biggest shore caught fish is an 85, the one in my avatar, all my monsters have fallen for SPs. Buy cheap, and keep buying cheap, plugs are for mugs.

Great stuff thanks for your input! Don’t forget that some hard plastics are cheaper than branded soft plastics ! I’ve had 7,9 and 11lb bass all super close and feeding close too so I concur. Thanks again we appreciate your input here and I will use that “plugs for mugs” saying too great stuff

Lots of big bass hunters use only soft plastics especially in the dark and surface lures if conditions allow. I've had most of my bigger fish on soft plastics, they seem to like it on or near the bottom in the gutter. Of all my hard lures the Hound Glide seems to get the most attention, either fished slowish with rod tip up or faster with tip lower and twitches and small pause after.

Can't agree with you, I've had more bass on surface gliders and poppers than I have had using soft plastics, they both have their uses. I do agree, however, that most of the hard plastic mid to deep divers are a waste of time and money.

What is the right time to fishing early morning or evening? can I use it in windy weather?
@SaltwaterAngler
@SaltwaterAngler Ай бұрын
Yes you can lure fish in surprisingly windy weather . Morning and evening both good times. There’s some argument as to what’s best based on fish feeding heavy just before dawn - I’m not so sure but low light can be good. I prefer mornings at sunrise
