Good into' video. 👍 Keitech Easy Shiner (soft plastic paddletail) are great - but pricey and ultra soft - so they don't last long. Fiiiish Black Minnows are fantastic but, like the Easy Shiner, they're very soft and don't last long either - especially if Wrasse are around! So, I'm making the switch to Drift softies which are much more durable and wallet friendly. Not used them yet, so I can't vouch for them, but they look the business and I'm optimistic. Agree with you about the Savage Gear Surf Seekers - they're great!

Thanks for the comment and sharing what you have found I have heard the easy shines are good so I may have to give them a go. Tbh I have never had a wrasse in Eastbourne on lures even when fishing round the reefs and rockier marks they seem to be deeper out

Nice video mate and nice bass. Just to mention you have missed out my go to lure lol. Savage gear V2 Weedless in 22g or 30g are amazing lures. Caught 99% of my bass on them.

Thanks mate I am yet to try them yet Whats your fav colour in them and I'll order some in! I'm also not that keen on the lures that come 1 lure and 1 body I never seem to use the other body and it just gets thrown in a box lol

@@TheEastbourneFisherman I like the White and Kaki colours. Oh you will use the spare bodies if you catch a lot of bass hahaha. They do get split and wrecked after a while. They have a little rattle in and I think that combined with the paddle tail it makes them deadly.

@@TheEastbourneFisherman had a 69cm 7lber lastnight at the same spot on the same gravity stick, lure got destroyed but it did its job, they are fragile lures especially the 12cm ones but the action is brilliant

Thanks for the video, very useful and always good to see what others are using. How important are tide times/heights or is time of day e.g dawn/dusk more important? My most successful lures so far are Savage Gear Sandeel 22g, Ima Hound Glide, Ecogear Powershad, Red Gill Evo Stix and the smaller Pirate Teaser.

Thanks for commenting tbh for me I go when I can tbh and tide times are what they are when I can get out I just go fish it Low tides are usually most productive but I have caught bass on lures at different tide states, different marks fish better at different states of the tides aswell. Some ace lure choices too :)
@BYF1
@BYF1 6 ай бұрын
@@TheEastbourneFisherman That's likely the best approach, something I often notice is fish jumping the most dawn/dusk irrespective of tide state. I thought I had a mark figured out in terms of tide state after 1 year of trial and error, it was all going well untill June this year and then I've blanked the last 6 trips. I need to explore new marks and tide states/times of day. Another question if I may....how often do you move spots? I find it hard to move when I've caught numerous times before in a certain window, but if the fish aren't in the area that day I wish I had moved if I blank.

For lures flat calm with clear water seems best, when the mackerel are fully in cast behind the moving shoal to pick them off as they will sit behind the shoal

Best advice I can give is get down to a local tackle shop, the owner will know all the best local lures and what equipment would best suit the areas you wish to fish Hope this helps

As a beginner I'm not sure how far I should be aiming to cast a lure. Presumably the heavier the lure the further it can be cast? What sort of lure weights do you like to use?
@TheEastbourneFisherman
@TheEastbourneFisherman 5 ай бұрын
I use lures that match the rod rating my rod is rated to 35grams So I would cast max 30grams The paddle tail lures are around 12 to 15 grams The metal lures are the heaviest lures I use and range from 15grams to 30 grams When casting If on an open beach I usually vary the cast in a fan so start from left to right and back again If I'm fishing round rocks or over reef then top water lures or weedless soft plastics Hope this helps Most of the time the bass will hit close in

Do you know why first light and last light is so good?..............It's the time when the Sand eels come in to bury themselves or emerge from the sand so everything thing heads in to the dinner table!.
