@@Bible_Ben yes, you can do that if you pull clutch while braking or slowing down. But if you slow down without pulling in clutch,the bike will stall as the gear is too high for that speed. It's not the same. You can shift into neutral from any gear in a car. On a bike, neutral is only found between 1&2. This was the very reason I started looking for tutorials on downshifting into neutral when braking. Since cars can go into neutral from any gear, I never use the clutch when stopping. Just rap the pedal to get it out of gear and hit the brake. No clutch needed. Your video here, helped remind me that the clutch can be used to remove power from the drivetrain, just like neutral. I drive a semi but, don't own a bike...yet. 😁 Of the few tutorials I went through, this one is the best. Great job explaining downshifting and finding neutral because I thought you had to go down on the shifter 3 times then up twice to get to neutral (like up shifting in reverse). Didn't know you could reach neutral from 2nd. I asked my dad and he was like, "Aw ya just keep smacking it down and it'll go into neutral"...😐... My father would've had me in 1st gear so knowing that half step between 1 & 2 was very important. Like I said above, thank you for the great tutorial. You hit on everything I was questioning. Thank you.

so, when do you need to shift? ive had this question for a while. when do you know you need to shift into 2nd gear? and when do you need to know when to downshift back to 1/2?
@antoniochiorazzo79744 жыл бұрын
There's many reasons why you would shift gears. As a general rule of thumb, people shift gears to go faster. It's that simple. If your in first, you need to shift to second to go faster. Same thing goes in third fourth etc. Now downshifting is actually a bit more complicated. It's not as simple as just going slower, because if you wanted to stop, you would use your brake and not your clutch right? Downshifting is just essentially preparing for a stop, so when you start moving again your more prepared. Let me give you an example. Let's just say your in third gear and your going 50 on a road. You see the light turning yellow. Downshift. Your in second. Keep in mind you have to do this within a certain distance from the stop. You can't just downshift 10 meters before the light, because you won't have enough time to stop. So now that you are in second, you essentially already stopped. All you have to do from here is pull in your clutch, hit the brakes to stop the bike, put it in first and wait until the light turns green. Some people unironically downshift to first gear before they actually stop the bike, but I don't think that's necessary. If you want to do it go ahead. I prefer stopping at second then downshifting to first. I feel like first gear is just a gear that was made for the bike to start going after a stop. No one should downshift into first gear while their moving (my opinion always). Anyway good luck dude hope this helped you!

Yo bro good tutorial! How about tutorials on panic braking and situations when a pedestrian suddenly crosses the road, and also what to do when approaching a curved road, after that I'm all set to buy a motorcycle lol.
@NasdaqManiac4 жыл бұрын
A vid will always be better but I can give some quick tips on what you asked. If a pedestrian gets into the way, you want to either brake with both front and back make sure it's steady and smooth pressure so you don't skid. Let's say you are going too fast to stop swerve out of the way without any brakes. if you are a beginner it is best to always do your shifting and braking before a corner. if you're in a corner and you upshift and you let out the clutch too heavy the back wheel could lose traction and same thing goes with if you downshift at higher rpm with improper clutch release. As you get better with the bike you will be able to brake and shift in a corner but it's best to do it well before the turn when you are just starting off.

Quick tip: don’t slam the front brake with your four fingers you’ll fall. Use your forefinger and your middle finger it’ll make you stop immediately and smoothly

At 16 (still 16) I learned Manny on cars and now I'm destined to get a GSX-R 750 Anaway I've been a car enthusiast for 12 years now and been super interested in them, this shows how similar driving a manual car is to riding, I'd recommend learning Manny first and it made a lot more sense for me especially with the bite point of the clutch

When you’re trying to go to a stop, do you need to apply throttle to downshift?
@Dj_LeeSwagga3 жыл бұрын
If youre in an emergency you just wanna pull the lever in and downshift while applying pressure to brakes. Not too much pressure tho cuz if you apply too much on the front brake youre like to be thrown headway off the bike and if you apply too much on the back you'll still slide. If youre on a casual ride tho when downshifting you can blip the throttle to properly prepare the engine for the lower gear👏🏾
@Dj_LeeSwagga3 жыл бұрын
@BlokjesRacing so when downshifting you wanna just blip the throttle when you push down the shifter while holding in the clutch. After you've done this then you release the clutch
@Dj_LeeSwagga3 жыл бұрын
@BlokjesRacing so you're in 5th and you wanna go to 4th you're gonna: press in the clutch and as you blip the throttle you downshift and release the clutch
@Dj_LeeSwagga3 жыл бұрын
@BlokjesRacing you have to pull in the clutch.. If you don't pull in the clutch then the bike will still accelerate
