I’d be all over a Tommy Dreamer memoir, tbh. Anyone remember when he talked about after ECW folded, thinking about going to Wrestlemania X7 and shooting Heyman and himself because he was so depressed and felt so taken for a ride by all of Paul’s bollocks speeches and bs, and how Jim Ross called him out of the blue, telling him to hang on and theyll find a place for him. Real heart wrenching and brutally honest stuff. Mick Foley couldn’t even be that sincere and removed from his gimmicks and entertainership. This business and its adherents rarely open up with that stuff until tragedy forces their hands.

Depends. For a *wrestler*, you can probably get some decent stuff out of their indies background, etc. Like even OOC said he'd want more about the Hart Dungeon. For any... non-wrestler, i'm going to call it... no, don't really need much of the pre-signing stuff, especially if it's not directly related to the business. (Again, depends on your background - if it's related to the business, it's probably worth some pages.) Roberts' book is titled "The best seat in the house", the subject matter is the WWE journey. Everything not-related to that is fluff. If it was actually a biography *about Roberts' life*, that may be different. But the subject matter of this book constrains itself down.
@theslimjames
@theslimjames 3 жыл бұрын
Does Foleys first book get a little bit of a pass because it also includes WCW talk, ie, split among national promotions? Him training to be a wrestler is interesting, but you dont need any more than 1 chapter home life, 1 chapter training, 1 chapter indies, so let's say three...unless something is interesting. But you dont need to go through the ups and downs of each podunk town you wrestle for 100 people in.

I think T2 was the first R-rated movie I ever saw as a kid. A neighbor friend of mine had a copy and we watched it at his house. At first, I was shocked by the violence and scared to death of the T-1000, but then I was like, "This is so awesome". The sequence with Sarah escaping the mental hospital is such a tense, amazing scene and probably my favorite part of the movie.

I hate OOC's take on "uugh, cover only wwe". It's like, fuck WWE, you got to the end goal, OOC is asking for a story from the end onwards. I agree with him that training should be one chapter, but I enjoy territory/indie days discussions just as much as WWE discussions. That's where the meat of their life story will be.

I really disagree with OOC here, I read Ric Flairs book and Bret Harts book, and both talk a lot about stuff outside the business from what I can remember. If you want a fantastic read, check out Pete Gas' book, 'Looking at the Lights: My Path from Fan to a Wrestling Heel.' Bare minimum time spent discussing his life before wrestling, and even then, a lot of that section includes stories with Shane and Vince and the rest of the McMahons. Has some great stories of how he came into the WWF, and how he was treated. Really nice guy and is a funny writer too. Cannot recommend his book enough.

Minor point of contention at 15:00 OOC, from a similarly aged man who also grew up in the US: when going to the shops (grocery store) when you get a trolley (shopping cart) there was no token required to unchain them from the rest in order to use one. Seeing that for the first time at Sainsbury's a few years ago was the first time I realized it's a thing. ALSO...at English shops not only do all 4 wheels function on the trolley, but all 4 articulate instead of the rear 2 being fixed! What a great idea!

I met Justin Roberts while working at IHOP. Not sure exactly when it was but he was with Miz and it was after Miz lost the title. It was Miz, Roberts and a 3rd guy I didn't know in the booth. I waited until they were about to leave, and I asked Miz for his autograph. Miz was such an awesome dude. I didn't say anything to Roberts who was sitting right next to him awkwardly, stuck in the booth while I getting an autograph from the REAL star. xD When I think of Roberts, I think of him waiting on Miz to finish my autograph so he can get out of the booth. lmao. Edit : This was March 2011 in Oklahoma City, I couldn't go because of work. But I went the next time raw was in OKC (Oct 2011) which happened to be the infamous, "walkout raw".

On a scale between Howard Finkel (the best) and Lillian Garcia (the worst) Justin Roberts is closer to Finkel than he is to Lillian

She's fine as long as I never have to deal with her outside of the ring entrances.

Waiter: How salty would you like your steak sir? Me: OOC please... Anyhoot, great review. Makes me happy for Roberts being in AEW because he'll probably enjoy it a hell lot more than WWE. Good for him!

9:52 Dunn's Harry Potter's Peter Pettigrew if he was a real life person. As for the scripts they're like the last years of WCW now where the writers have a whole show written out then Vince has a senile mood swing and decides he wants it rewritten 10 or 15 minutes before the shows start.
