Thanks for the information. The end where you say what you intend to use it for was also great to me. The difference between artificial and live was key. I like that toy affected a rod pairing. I'll be checking this out! Nice crib!

Do keep in mind, that at 22 pounds of drag, that is double the drag poundage of a Penn 500, so you could do far more with it than inshore. Now, how does it hold up? Who knows? But power, no question in my mind.

I don't see anything that makes it better than the Diawa Opus, though the Opus starts at a 4500 size. I paid $38 for two Opus, and have been really happy with them.

Right, I am just wondering what sets it apart from an even more affordable reel? And that was $38 each on the Opus, not real clear before I see! I don't do a lot of saltwater fishing and am not well educated regarding the gear. Was mostly wondering if there was something I am missing?

This reel has the bearings sealed but not the drag, if you go saltwater fishing with it you have to make sure to rinse it well, specially the drag, otherwise the drag will not last long.

This reel has the bail spring of a Penn spinfisher v. the looks of a Penn Fierce.. nice... I've seen them on Amazon.. Piscifun is really breaking into the market with their products which are comparable to top line reels! Hey, where did you get the display turntables? Man I'd love to put all of my reels on these a display them all over my house and watch my wife go insane!😂 excellent review will be sharing it!

Seems to me, none of the majors make anything. But, it IS their design, but almost all, are made in China. Not that you don't know that--we all do. But "design" seems to me to be the right word--today.

@@Saltyscales Penn spinfisher v is more durable and has more drag, (not made from plastic like the bg is) but that makes it heavier.
@robertburke1394
@robertburke1394 5 жыл бұрын
Lachlan O'Neil Penn fan boy. Don't hate the diawa bg until you buy one. There not plastic. They are great for an 80$ reel. I can't hate on Penn to much I haven't bought one in 10+ years I learned from other people's mistakes who have bought them.
@lachlanoneil8938
@lachlanoneil8938 5 жыл бұрын
@@robertburke1394 well it's not plastic it's graphite but it's got similar properties to plastic, it is much more flimsy but I was still thinking of buying one and I'm almost a Penn fan boy, I love their mid priced stuff but top end goes to Shimano and daiwa for sure, looking at buying a saragosa in the future, my Penn spinfisher got dunked on the first day buy a friend and I've fished with it for probably 50+ trips at the beach since (alot of sand) and no problems at all other than when alot of sand got in the drag nob it was tightening it self so I just got the sand out and as good as new.

Thanks for the video. I'm looking around for a new surf reel right now. So far my favorite is the updated Daiwa BG series. I like the 4500 which would compare closely with the Piscifun 5000 and the Piscifun is considerably less expensive. What are your thoughts on the Daiwa BG vs the Piscifun?
@Saltyscales
@Saltyscales 7 жыл бұрын
+Alan Brooks Hey Alan, It's double the money but if I had to choose between the two I would spend the extra money for the BG. Very nice reel and Diawa has been around a long time.

Great review and video! If the reel is durable, it's a winner for sure at that price point. On a different note, the Daiwa RG-AB (Regal Airbail) is my favorite find for freshwater artificial fishing. Ebay, Cabela's, and Dick's Sporting Goods will have em for $39.99 from time to time. I found one for $25 new on ebay. That's a steal for a smooth as butter retrieve. I like it better than my Shimano Nasci tbh. The Nasci has better drag and sealed bearings better suited for saltwater, but at that price point the Daiwa BG, Penn, and others like this one get a shot.

it looks good, i like the strong drag, but prefer a 6 or 6.2 to 1 ratio for bass fishing, and i dont want mine to be that heavy, i may get one and check it out, i may check on the 3000 size too if they have one. everyone that needs a sweet little spinning reel for bass anbd crappie fishing needs to ebay a kastking reel i think it is called summer it is white and i have bought several especially for grandkids to use they are pretty sweet and on sale usually for $19-$23 bucks and almost as smooth as my $249 pflueger patriarch xt magnesiums, kastking has a few pretty good baitcasters in the $50-$60 range too! I have been pleased with them even though I use many $179-$249 Lews!

I would say that you did a nice job advertising this reel. It does look nice but the line on it appears to be very, very high poundage. As far as quality goes, take the reel to Alaska and catch about 200 large fresh chinook salmon and lets see how it holds up. If it is still like new at the end of the trip then we will claim that it is a very nice reel.

Salty Scales I bet you can have the Penn Fierce II for 5 years without issue, let's make it 7 years to make it interesting 😎🤔🤙👍🏻 not saying your new reel is not nice, or you can not clean it to last long, but my fried has your same reel already gave a few issues that I have seen like wrapping the line around the Spool Drag knob, I owned over 40 Spinning Rod and reel combos and fished them for 7 years Newport Harbor California at least twice a week. Owned the Stradic FJ, penn Clash, penn conflict , penn Spinfisher V, Penn Battle, Penn Battle II and the list goes on. Love the Channel and sorry if I offended you, I was only making a comparison and giving people and comparing Priced good item to look at. Your reel does have tremendous amount of drag which the Penn does not, but Penn does have a drag made out of Silk on this model🎣🎣🎣🥃

No comparison here. The Daiwa Legalis LT series are not only lightweight but also durable, smooth, and handles like high end reels. It's the best $50 you will ever spend. Your shoulders will thank you with each cast. Weight does matter. After 50 cast straight, that 12 ounce will feel like a tank.

i love your vids and u give great advice. do you really have to spend a lot to get good reels, 60 bucks could still be a lot if you're in school. just bought a lil cheap set up just to get out with but i almost don't want to take it out and waste my time with it

Thank you, I appreciate that. You absolutely do not need to purchase expensive gear to have fun and catch but when you really start to love the sport, you tend to want to buy the better gear. Enjoying your time on the water is the most important aspect of fishing.

Nice video but the BG is the best reel ever. I know guys that have sold there 500$ shimano's for them. They say it's better!
@Saltyscales
@Saltyscales 7 жыл бұрын
There is no disputing the BG is a good reel but some don't or can't spend that much, trying to find a quality reel under $100 can be difficult sometimes, so that is why I made this video. This reel and the Sahara, Sedona, Penn Fierce are all good options.

Salty Scales : I have a Penn fierce 6000 and I don't like it. The drag is crappy. It chatters when the big bonefishes make thier runs. I changed the drags to carbon text and had only marginal improvements.

Honestly it can be difficult finding a silky smooth drag in the cheaper reels but for the money they perform well.

Just to ask, what is a BG reel? I'm looking for a good reel from 50-100 bucks right now and the options are astounding. I really don't know what I want/need but will be fishing anything from ultralight gear like 4lb test for trout up to 15lb test for bass, kokanee fishing and more, and otherwise. Any help would be amazing.

Stradics are definitely a better reel but quite a bit more money.

I call this paid promotion, for around 75-85 you can get a diawa bg and it is far superior than this multiproduction reel I bet Shakespeare, zebco, and even kastking make this same exact reel just cheaper.

I'm not really familiar with a lot of fishing equipment but I'm guessing it's pronounced, Pisce-fun like in Pisce (meaning fish), not Pissy-fun (like in Pee-Pee).
