I use the snails i find on the seawall. Just thread a few on your hooks and cast them up against the wall. You can actually pick your fish if you can get up on the wall. Just. Lightly bounce your bait on the wall and let it sink right in front of them. They will go right after it.

very interesting video . i have been fisshing for a long time now . i lived in the mediterranean sea and currently in the balearics. we have a very similar fish that is very hard to catch and yet very satisfying. it also eats crabs and shrimps as it looks idendical to your sheepshead. however our waters are very clear and these fish have a very good eyesight and are very intuitive to danger . if a hook is too large and line too thick ,they escape and they wont return to this area for at least an hour . if they see anything moving out of the ordinary, they are horrified . i say this because i observe them carefully while snorkelling . another observation is beaches , they seem to feel safe wherever tourists go for a swim. because normally no fishermen enters the waters with dangerous stuff. so one of my solutions to this is to find a way to hide all unnatural fishing methods .i still fail . closest way is whenever i use a thin line and hide it under the sand leving the shrimp out . the hook hidden . it looks perfect . just one tiny problem . all tiny fish ruin the plan . by the time the big fish come around , the tiny ones already messed up the bait . so watching your video just made me think that using a live crab might actually solve this problems ,as the tiny fish are not interested in crabs . im very curious to try this , as i have tried for years and failed .
@FishingWithSalty4 жыл бұрын
Kitos Camilleri awesome story, thank you so much for sharing! Please let me know what the outcome is, I think you nailed it that’s why I love using crabs because there is quite literally no bycatch! Tight Lines YEWW!
@kitoscamilleri77314 жыл бұрын
@@FishingWithSalty you are welcome , I could add more info if you like. I once used octopus legs and I hug the hook inside the meat. Octopus is tough meat , and therefore is not eaten immediately like shrimp or cheese or bread . I also like the fact that when small fish get eating crazy, the big ones (sheepshead) get close and interested. Now the only problem to this is the line . While the little fish eat the meat, the (sheepshead) freakout when they see the line . And the hunt is over because once they detect danger they won't return . I tried solving this problem by using the thinnest flourocarbon line . And managed to catch the fish but the line snaps by the time I get him out.
