Just ran across this. I literally just did the same thing the enjoybot with 4 150ah batteries. I choose to run 3 batteries vs the 1 36 volt for my trolling motor because I do tournaments and it is easier to replace 1 battery if it goes down vs finding a 35 volt to just keep fishing. If worst comes to worst I simply pull one out of my truck. So far I am impressed with the batteries. It took 4 100ah out of my boat and replaced them with Enjoybot. I did a test with my trolling motor set to max and went 2.5 hours and only used about 42% of my available battery power. Unfortunately I blew my trolling motor and probably because I was going wide open for that long and the 3 batteries together put out 41.5 volts so a little more than the 36 volts the battery requires. Anyway, good show here. I am a fresh water fisherman, because of where I live. If you ever make it to Texas, let me know, will take you Crappie fishing!

Good info! I recently purchased a LiTime 36V 100Ah battery for my 26 bay boat and have been really impressed with its performance so far. I ran my trolling motor offshore for 4 hours and it only used 10% of my battery capacity. I also have a battery shunt and the LiTime digital battery monitor installed on my dash (super handy and no need to mess with my phone to see battery info).

What did you use for a battery tray ?
@alknopf
@alknopf 7 ай бұрын
I purchased everything from LiTime's Amazon store. I searched for a battery tray that would work and had no luck finding anything, so I ended up using the foam packaging tray that the battery ships on and 2 nylon trailer tie down straps to secure the battery in place. So far, it's worked great and the foam shipping piece helps to prevent vibrations from going into the battery while the boat is underway.

Nice video and great information, Chris! I use a different brand same size w/BT and have been amazed at performance! We can go out and run it hard for two or three trips before it gets down to around 60% which is when I charge it. May change that thinking about the safety aspect of it. Tight lines!

What on board charger are you using? Can you use a regular 2 bank and have the 12 volt engine battery and this on connected?
@SaltyStrikes
@SaltyStrikes 4 ай бұрын
@@mikemorrison1898 12v and 36v batteries have to have separate chargers, same with lead acid and lithium. I have links for lithium chargers in description area. If you’re referring to a DC to DC charger to go from 12v to 36v while the motor is running , I used to have one but not anymore. It’s unnecessary with this battery.

 @SaltyStrikes Heads up for you and your readers. When using LiFePO4 (lithium) batteries, the electric trolling motor manufacturers, including Minnkota, have a statement in the owner's manual saying to avoid using the highest trolling motor settings (such as 9.5 and 10) for long periods of time. This because lithium batteries don't suffer from voltage sag like lead acid batteries and so the electric motor is working harder, with more output, than if the voltage was sagging and this can allow the electric motor to overheat. Luckily, with lithium, you are getting nearly the same thrust output at 9 as you are at 9.5 or even 10 with lead acid batteries as the voltage drops as they are depleted. As for storage and recharging, LiFePO4 batteries can be depleted down to about 0% State of Charge (SOC) but doing so is at the expense of cycle life. Since these batteries have around 3,500 cycles before degrading below 80% original Ah, it probably doesn't matter to most users. But for those that want the most cycles and longevity out of your batteries, avoid depleting below 20% SOC on a regular basis. Not quite as bad and running low, is letting them sit at 100% SOC for extended periods of time, especially in a hot environment. If you use allows, only charge them up to 80% or 90% for your fishing trip. But even if you choose to run them up to 100%, the best practice is to wait to do so until the morning of, or the night before, you use them. Meaning, leave them at whatever SOC they are when you come back from a fishing trip rather than immediately charging them back up to 100% and letting them sit there. Just make sure you remember to charge them up the day before you leave. This take a change of thinking compared to lead acid that like to be recharged to 100% immediately and then sit with a smartcharger on them at 100%. Lithium should sit at 40% to 60% state of charge and then be charged up right before use. Really important to not let a lithium sit on a charger right at 100% all the time. If you are forgetful, you can use a timer to shut off after so many hours, change your lithium charger float voltage to basically be nothing, or change your charger bulk charge voltage to only charge up to a lower voltage than 100% full.

First thanks for the very insightful videos on trilling motors. In the past 7 to 8 months you reviewed two different videos with positive reviews. I came away from this video with you favoring the enjoybot over the 36v Li Time. Would you agree with my assessment? Can you elaborate either way on which one you would select at this time knowing what you know now. I am looking at my options for a seahunt gamefish 25 vs going with a significantly more expensive Abyss...thanks in advance.
