A better way to shorten the slab to make it fit the mold would be to use a electric hand plane as it's 3 " inches wide even though you only need to make a couple of passes to make it fit in the mold, it's better than a skill saw and a hand saw to make the cut

Claro Walnut, as always this is a beautiful piece of furniture. I think the reason this base is still popular is that it is a timeless design. It just one of those design that will never go out of style. That and the fact that it is so simple and elegant at the same time. The use of visible wedges add to the beauty of the whole piece. I also love the fact that you use different type of wood in its structure, that adds to the beauty in my opinion.

I do like trestle legs but this time they look a bit over manufactured, I prefer them to be simpler and a little lighter. I do however like the contrast with the different timber used in the wedges. Claro walnut - This reminds me of when I first got into watching resin pours how all the tables looked like this. The classic river pour but I think it looks so tacky but love the craftsmen ship as always!

Thank you! I personally think the client preferences have changes quite a bit since the beginning. When we first popularized this style of furniture we mostly got commissions for bright metallic blue pours. Where the feature was the epoxy, as opposed to the wood. Now we see a trend towards more timeless colours like blacks and greys. With clients placing more importance and a unique piece of wood and a more plain resin choice.

Yes! The coat we filmed wasn’t the final top coat. After a couple more coats the imperfections are filled in!

Clara Walnut - To get that matte finish after the acrylic urethane did you sand it to remove the gloss or did you just apply the ceramic coating? I like the matte finish so I've been mainly using oil finishes but I'd love to get the added protection the urethane offers. Great work!!

Clara walnut - i love your videos and it makes me want to preserve our tree. We have a 100 yr old maple that grew as a clump of 7 trees so the base is massive. Sadly it’s not doing well with climate change here in southern Ontario and it looks like it’ll have to come down in next few years. To be able to preserve some of it in a table would ease the pain of losing the focal point of our backyard. Do you know of any company in southern Ontario that could do this?

The ceramic will bond to just about anything! It actually almost works even better on harder surfaces. For example, it’s excellent for granite countertops or stainless steel appliances!

If it’s a river table there is usually no need as the pieces of wood are not that wide! If we are doing a cast where the piece of wood exceeds 3’ in width, we add C channels.

Not usually! If it becomes an issue we go over it with superglue and stabilize!
