Josh, good work. And what a nice Christmas present to be on the receiving end of. Rob, I once did that to a clutch in a British Railways 1.7lt Sherpa railway minibus around 1984. Sort of tore all the friction off of the clutch for a laugh. NCL (National Carriers Ltd) did the railway maintainance in Bristol. A month later I took the van back as I'd tore the centre of the clutch out. Clutch material was great on the new one, but I'd worked out how to snap the spline off the disc. Dennis was the receptionist, and Lance was one of the mechanics. They were so confused as to how the damage was caused, so they took me into the workshop to see the damage. In the end, Dennis pinned me against a wall in the office and lifted me up by my nipples. I've never shagged a clutch to death again, to this day!

Here's a thing for you. For cutting through those seals and the glue in the wings. Make a small hole in the glue or sealant and pass a guitar A string through it. Then pull and push the string to cut the sealant. Best are the steel electric guitar strings .and cheaper the better. Cheaper ones are really awful to play but cut really well. On awkward areas it might need both of you pulling backwards and forwards on the string. Hope you can work out what I mean.

That Fiat 500 was likely cheap to buy, fix and insure especially with Chris's magic and Rob getting parts. Low miles, seemed to be well maintained. Likely the damage on the passenger side was from a sideswipe of someone getting close when parked, nothing major but just more than the value of car to fix by a shop at full rates. Easy to park in town, enough power and cute too. Good starter car.

Another lovely vid, but rob you need to space out the voiceovers some more for the time lapses, they often cut off mid sentence. Maybe slow down the timelapses so that they end when you finish talking? I only mention it because its giving context and explanations to what you're doing, and its a bit jarring to have the explanation cut off. At any rate, great work.

A bit prejudiced is that, my daughter has a similar age 208 and has had it since before she passed her test 7 years ago, I service it, no signs of abuse, no crashes, always rings 0800 DADDY if anything seems wrong, learned to drive on my '09 Aveo, which is now at 140k, and has seen me building cars from wrecks and parts. All about how they get brought up and what they see.
@allandavies948810 ай бұрын
There was not a lot of thickness to that clutch plate, and probably not much 'meat' under the rivets, so no wonder it gave up when it got thin. Years ago I re lined some clutch plates that had become oil contaminated but otherwise good. They were for myself, not for a customer!
