E-176 In part 4 of building the International roadster, Derek tried to save as much as possible from the original (or what we thought was an original) back part of a car. He does manage to salvage some much needed parts and makes great head way on the build.

Cave and pave is such a fitting term. My old pickup was in an an accident in the early seventies, the cab repair scab finally fell off a couple years back. It is plain to see how they hammered it all down and used filler to achieve the shape. Guess they thought it would hold up like lead work. Best days to you all there 👍

Fellow Nova Scotian here I stumbled on your channel last week , and ended up watching a bunch of videos. It’s great to see such great metalwork and hot rod fabrication being done here in Nova Scotia . Nice work saving those original pieces on those wasted original quarters. Have you thought about using a real spot welder (looks like a large clamp) instead of doing plug welds which you call spot welds? I think it might be easier & faster than all the drilling ,welding up holes then grinding down the weld lumps.

If I keep doing this yes! Honestly I never thought I would be doing so much. I recently added the plasma cutter and TIG welder. A spot welder could be a welcome addition.

I'm still using MIG. I bought a TIG welder recently and as soon as confidence is up enough I'll start using it more instead of MIG. Brookville used MIG when they put their bodies together. I know TIG is slower but better when welding sheet metal.
