Al tends to parody the videos, too. The best example is his parody to Michael Jackson's "Beat It!" which he entitles, "Eat It!" There is a video out there that shows side-by-side comparison of the two videos where you see what is done in the original video being expertly parodied in Weird Al's video. In this case, you may want to watch Coolio's video and see how many of the scenes in the video are parodied along with the words, themselves. Yes, Weird Al has original songs, but is best known for some brilliant parodies. About 2/3 of each of his albums are parodies with the other 1/3 original songs. Some bands have said that they know that they have made it when Weird Al parodies one of their songs.

In the movie genre, you should check out the cult classic "Top Secret" with Val Kilmer. There is a scene that was shot in reverse where the lines were spoken normally but last to first so when the scene is played normally for the audience, it looks "normal" but their speech is backward. The gag being that backward speech 'sounds Swedish' and the scene takes place in a "Swedish Book Shoppe". It makes Weird Al's backward scene look novice. At least check out that scene if not the movie itself.

His parodies are great BUT, on his albums he usually includes a polka song, where he puts modern metal, hip hop and other genres lyrics to upbeat polka music, a twist on the parody (keeping the lyrics but changing the music). If you have never heard Black Hole Sun as a polka, your in for a treat 🤣

I have adored Weird Al his entire career. My son became a fan of Weird Al when he was a pre-teen in the late 1990's, so for his birthday, I took him to a Weird Al concert at a theme park. Although the attendance was very small, Al did a concert like he was playing for thousands, not a few dozen. He did all the costume changes and it was very hot and humid that day. You won't find a nicer person in the entertainment industry. "Trapped in the Drive Thru", "Word Crimes", "Hardware Store", "You Don't Love Me Anymore"...just a few that are hilariously funny, but didn't receive the attention that "Fat" and "Eat It" have gotten.

Dr. Demento was a show I barely got to listened to because of my age, but I did listen to it a few times. Dr. Demento had a show on the radio that had comedic songs. There is a lot of them. That is kind of where Weird Al started. Or when his name started to get out there, "Another One Rides the Bus" shows how he started, with minimal instruments and production value. Him and an accordion and a guy with a briefcase and props. People name all these songs to do, like this one, and White and Nerdy, and Fat and Eat It. And, though I remember them being popular. The song that everyone like and loved, nobody reacts to. And, if you were really a beginning fan of Weird Al, you would know that the song is called "Yoda" a parody of "Lola" by the Kinks. Do both of those songs Salvo.

Weird Al has some original works like "Albuquerque" and "Hardware Store." He also does polka medleys of popular songs, original songs inspired by the style of other musicians, and his songs are often more successful than the originals that they spoof.

When he bounces up and walk towards the camera, he’s actually walking backwards. All the extras look like they’re moving backwards in the shot but in reality he’s the only one moving backwards. He’s singing the lyrics backwards also.

WOW! Very funny ... seen now 3-4 times. First time I noticed, towards the beginning, Jebediah(sp.?) is feeding cows ... from a PIZZA BOX! 🙂

So much fun. I just love him. You could react to any of his stuff and I'd be happy but " White and Nerdy" and " The Saga Begins " ( star wars) are my favorites.

I saw Weird Al's tour last year of all his original songs and it was great! 😂
