When you consider that, as Led Zeppelin, they STARTED their first live show for 27 years with this song from their first album... That's why the crowd went nuts...!!! And the first lyrics... come on.. how bloody appropriate "In the days of my youth I was told what it means to be a man Now I've reached that age I've tried to do all those things the best I can"
@vernhoke77302 жыл бұрын
This whole show was epic. The first time they, the 3 remaining members, performed a full set together since 1980. They got together a few times over the years but only played a couple of songs. Jason, John Bonham's son, playing his old man's drum kit from back in the day would make the old man proud. Kashmir from this show is a great tune.

The crowd went nuts here because this was the show opener and Zep hadn’t played a concert for 27 years, and the audience were literally the winners of the lottery for tickets. I mean, you could cut the excitement and expectation in the crowd with a knife! They went nuts when they heard that great Zep sound again live! And a perfect opener…..first track from first album.

Robert Plant not only has a voice that’s out of this world, he’s an inspired performer. Talk about insanely smart, he got on that stage and acted the part of a Rock God, he sold it and we all believed it, but he says it was all an act. Without that huge voice, he may just have become a rather quiet, well-read country gentleman. I still rock out to this, but more often I enjoy his laid back, quiet love songs, smartly written, not overly sappy like so many artists. And, of course, he has such a majestic delivery in Kashmir, I can close my eyes and travel just on his voice to faraway lands. Huge talent, smart, decent man.

It cuts off abruptly at the end because they immediately move on to the next song. They did their first three songs without a break. On this vid they excluded the very beginning of the concert where they play a TV news clip from 1971 I think where the local reporter is talking about the attendance records they are breaking on their tour. It’s very cool the way they played that old TV clip to evoke the past glory and then came in strong with this number which opened their concert

React to any song from their Legendary Theatrical Release: LED ZEPPELIN THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME (IN CONCERT...AND BEYOND!) Recorded in 1973 at NYC's MADISON SQUARE GARDENS Theatrically Released in 1976. I saw it then at 14 years of Age. It was a Life-Changing experience. I strongly recommend you review every song in this Cinematic Masterpiece in its proper chronological sequence. 1st Song Up: ROCK & ROLL SEE, FEEL & HEAR FROM THE FRONT ROW ALL OF THE THUNDER, LIGHTNING and the HAMMER of the GODS that LED ZEPPELIN delivers at the PEAK of their FAME & POWER!! ALL of your Subscribers will be heavily suggesting you react to various songs in this film, so why not just DO THEM ALL, and never mind about asking for obscure jam sessions, and just go ahead an DO what ALL of your Subscribers WANT. When they say MSG 1973, THIS is the Concert Film they are referring to, so please, skip trying to find the undiscovered gems that no one else knows about, and get IN on marveling at LED ZEPPELIN THE way they WANTED you to see them! Like others have said, Royal Albert Hall has superb samples of this band's greatness. Sorry if you've already done some, I'm too lazy to check, haha! But "I can't quit you, babe" and "Bring it on home" from that show are especially stellar, imo. I know you really dug "Trampled Under Foot"--there's a nice long jammin version from Earl's Court 1975. "In my time of dying" from that same show is unreal. "Goin to California" for acoustic sweetness. "No Quarter" MSG 1973. There's a LOT. THANK GOD!!!!

The known recorded live performances are Danmark in 1969, Royal Albert Hall in 1970, The Song Remains The Same concert movie from 1973, Earls Court from 1975, Seattle from 1977 (although video quality isn't good), and Knebworth in 1979. Maybe start with Danmark; it's only a half hour and is on KZbin. If you could watch the 28 minute Dazed and Confused from MSG, you can watch Danmark.

The Denmark (1970) concert is really good too, except for the sitting cross-legged, comatose audience--sheesh! . But they do an amazing Dazed and Confused, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, and How Many More Times, among others. They look like what they almost basically are at the time (1969)--freakin teenagers!!
