Everyone was doing a medley, but from what I understand, Pentatonix were the only ones to fully much them up at the end rather than just transitioning from one to another.

While not my favorite, I appreciate this because we can see them beginning/ learning/ honing their craft to become the medley masters we know today ❤️🙌🙌

I agree. It is really cool to look back at these performances and see them putting the pieces together to become what they are today. The next one is one of my favoite ones from the show.

#s 7, 10 & 12 are the premium performances. However, #11 isn't shabby either.

This always cracks me up. You can see Kirstie was high school dance captain and the guys were not lol. They did the most interesting arrangement of the night but the Dartmouth Aires probably had the best performance.

As others have noted, this week was "Superstar Medley" week, so all the groups did medleys of 3 songs from a single artist. (The Queen medley by the Dartmouth Aires was probably the best of the week). For the next week, I believe was when they started doing two performances per week, and the theme of the night was "A little bit country, a little bit rock & roll" (a play on the old bit by Donny and Marie Osmond). "Born to be Wild" is their song for the "Rock & roll" segment. Their second song that week for the "Country" segment was "Stuck Like Glue" by Sugarland. While the person who collected all the performances (it looks like you're using the mrduckbear set) has them all as individual songs, keep in mind that from now on, they did two per night (7 & 8, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, and two non-judged songs, 13 & 14 on finale night). After the week where they did 11 & 12 was when they opened it up to fan voting for the winner.

Definitely not one of my favorites of their Sing Off journey, but a few misses can't be helped when a group is growing together! Thanks for your reactions to these guys!

Haha yeah... If this is their "miss" they're doing pretty well, I'd say. I personally think it's rather good and fun. Less polished than usual, and a bit juvenile and over the top (too heavy handed and the dancing...). But as you say, for as early on as it is it's actually rather impressive. And their transitions, though not up to current ptx levels, are actually quite impressive compared to most of the other groups in the competition at that time. There were some other groups that made neat transitions, but most were just kind of abrupt. And the rather messy end ptx did is kind of impressive in that they even tried. So while this is not very polished, just the seed of potential shown in this performance (when it comes to their arranging) is impressive to me..

I’m pretty much in agreement with you about this performance…starting with the 7th performance is where they really kick it into “high gear”! I really enjoy watching the progression, as a group, of PTX. It’s pretty cool that you have no idea what is in store for you…lol…it’s quite a ride!!!

When you look at their entire competition as a whole, this week is probably not at the top of most fans' lists. However they did a really good job with this medley-mashup. Remember, at this point, they've only been together as a group for a few weeks.

The other groups did medleys, too, but PTX added more of a mash-up at the end and more sophisticated transitions between the songs - an early peek at where they went later with their medleys and mash-ups. Other groups had solid performances, particularly the Dartmouth Aires, who had their best performance of the series with a Queen medley - their strongest singer just killed "Somebody to Love" at the end

As much as I dislike Britney Spears, I thought the arranging they did with making the changes between the songs go smoothly and especially mashing up all three songs at the end was amazing. Born to Be Wild is another break out moment, though. Can't wait to see your reaction to it!!!

This one wasn’t my favorite, but it was the first glimpse at the coined PTX mash-up. The other groups just sang a few songs from the artist back to back. PTX was the only group to blend their song selections at the end. It was a definite foreshadowing of “evolution” videos to come which in the end, though again not my favorite, it made it a very special performance. Next week….better hold on for the ride. It’s one of my favs!!!

And also, when you finish The Sing-Off be sure to do the one where they won so many reactors don't do that but you can see the raw emotions and everybody's face when they're waiting for the verdict and Mitch and Christy are visibly shaking

Yeah. Exactly. They are so young and still figuring out how to work together and what they want to be and decide what are the best choices for their talents. And some genres and styles they absolutely destroy and others, they just did a really good performance.

You ask how many get eliminated each episode; it's sometimes 1 and sometimes 2, and at the beginning only half the groups perform and sometimes the groups sing once and sometimes twice per episode. I tried to reconstruct the season using MrDuckBear11's numbering system. Each episode starts with an opening performance with all groups from that episode involved, then the groups perform, the judges eliminate 1 or 2, and each eliminated group gets a montage presentation of their performances and sings a "swan song" as they leave the stage. PTX was in group B so were not in episodes 1 & 3

Great reaction! This one was just fun, and they put a lot of energy into the dancing and moving around the stage. They are usually limited to 2 minutes for each performance, but because they were asked to do a medley, they it looks like they got a bit longer on stage, which was good. The next performance #7 Born to Be Wild is a big favorite for me, and I can't wait to see your reaction!

I think the first time i heard this i wasn’t overly enamored with it. But after listening a second time, i began seeing the intricacies and i really love it now. I actually love the mash up at the end. They discovered their masterful ability to mashup songs. It isn’t my favorite performance of theirs but they have some absolutely killer performances that are objectively so much better than this one. I really do enjoy it and i like the twist on the britney songs. I grew up with these songs and it great to see them done well in a new and interesting way.

I think the problem when we watch these is that we are comparing them them to themselves from today. And not to the other groups. We know how much their voices have grown through the years and can hear the limitations they have here that they don't have anymore. It's normal for people to have more narrow r ages but all of them have e, landed their vocal ranges and abilities so much since then. They are amazing back then.... But we just know how much better they will eventually get.

Not my favorite performance, My problem was the first segment with Kirstie singing lead. Not her fault, she did great, but I felt the backup was lacking. Maybe lacking Kirstie? Ha! It just didn't sound as full as we have seen in other performances. I guess as a new group, with 1 week to arrange, it was good.
