The Kendrick Drake beef REALLY got me in my feelings about Pac… the loss was profound. So fortunate to have grown up in LA when he was with us. he was everything. It’s why 30 years later and we’re still here. ♥️🕯️

Back in them days nobody i mean nobody was spitting lyrics like Pac. He had a mission. All other rapper had tunnel vision. PAC had multi vision. He saw more then rap. He was about his people, all people and all people.

I grew up with a family full of drug addicts and poverty. I heavily judged them until I started listening to Tupac. Especially in this song when he says: "Been a witness to homicide, some drivebys taken lives, little kids die... wonder why as I walk by, broken hearted as I glance at the chalk line I'm gettin high" It clicked for me that he was just trying to bury his pain. As I've gotten older, matured and experienced pain of my own I get it now. I don't support or condone it but I no longer judge addicts the way I used to. I'm very thankful for that lesson because I feel like it allowed me to humanize and connect with some of my family.

To really understand this song you have to understand what it was like growing up in the beginning of the crack error and to watch family fall apart right in front of your face, to watch people you went to school with die in drive by shootings , It's hard to look back n believed any of us survived .. That's what this song reminds me of because this is what was all around us everyday

This entire album in my opinion is worth a listen from start to finish. It's the album that sold me. I wish I could articulate what this meant to me in the 90's - It wasn't just music it felt like family that knew exactly what you were going thru. But yea the music...has not been duplicated in this art form in my humble opinion. Welcome to great music and an even greater, civil rights activist, actor, poet and artist....

The writing and recording of lyrics probably happened in a flash. That man wrote verses so fast. You'd think he was rushing yet he occupied multiple studios at a time. Which is why he was able to create so much songs. That man wanted his own political party.

Great reaction. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts. It's refreshing to see our young people appreciating the old school hip hop classics. Timeless. When this album dropped. I always thought of this song as a cry for help. Check out. 2 Pac "Till the end of time," Troublesome 96," "Dear Mama," "Letter to my unborn," "My only fear of death," "Who do you believe in," "Can you get away " "The hearts of men," "Ambitions of a rider," "Hail Mary," "This ain't livi'n," "Changes," "Picture me rolli'n," "When I get free," and "I see death around the corner" for starters. He has so so many gems.... New sub. Salute.....

It's interesting to hear your perspective on the lyrics but if you have lived at the black poverty level at some time in your life and dealt with the rawness of the streets, you would probably feel this differently. I'm older now but it evokes a lot of memories that I'd rather forget and I pray you never experience. The best way I can describe the experience is to be in the woods all alone, night after night surrounded by howling hungry wolves with a stick in your hand.

This is how most black people feel in the hood/ghetto (aka concentration camps) and it's ignored! We have to deal with our own mental health and use music, sports and the word of God for healing/outlets! Tupac was special, he was relatable to our everyday experiences but could speak to the world if they took the time to listen! Loved your genuine reaction! Us understanding each other will tear down the racial hate and tension this country has suffered from for centuries ✊🏿

Very good comment. Your first sentence is what I think some people don't understand about why his music is so popular. When he use to say "feel me", that's how many people felt.

The girlfriend that he talks about cheating on him in this song is the singer Madonna. They were secretly dating at this time but they broke up when he went to jail. He was worried about his image about dating a white woman so he broke it off.
