right.. you can hear the pain in his voice. he doesnt show it but he still beats himself up over a lot of stuff. even stuff he had no control over. I feel like this episode showed the real sam... how important it is to him to make his brother proud.

It's about those sons of bitches that killed mom. Dean has spent his ENTIRE LIFE fighting for justice, putting and end to it all. And for him to say that he is willing to sacrifice everything he has ever worked for, for the sake of one person - Sam, is truly the biggest statement of love he could give.

The 08x20 hug is one of my favorite Winchester hugs mostly because it was just Dean hugging Sam because he loves him. I mean, all their hugs are like that but the 08x20 one was spur of the moment and caught Sam off guard and I love that. Also, the way Dean just smacks Sam after it always gets me laughing.

me too. especially since sam thought dean was probably going to get after him for not staying home. he kind of stumbled over his words trying to explain himself and was completely caught off guard since it was the last thing he expected

I Know, I Know! But I remember when I thought this before when times were even tougher In the show then they are now.. Season 4-6 weren't the greatest for brotherly love momo's.. And I remember Thinking I'd NEVER See 'em like they were in 1-3 Ever again. It proved me way wrong. We all Know that Supernatural surprises us crazy all of the Time, which Keeps It Incredible, never a dull second, and They can turn the tune in a Instant when we fans least expect It. Omg the last one was so adorable I can’t. Sam was so broken and torn and Dean just was there for him like always. When Sammy says that his greatest sin was how many times he let Dean down Deans gaze just softens like the loving, caring big brother he is. And this is one of the reason why I absolutely love Supernatural even though I’m only on Season 2 😂. Seriously though I love the relationship between Sam and Dean it’s absolutely adorable.

People always say to me that I watch this show because Jared and Jensen are sexy or they call me stupid or that I should be a shame because Supernatural hates women.They are sexy I agree but I've always thought that's a bonus in this show.This is not perfect but it's good in many other levels.The most beautiful thing about this show is brotherly love and I can't believe that there so beautiful and amazing love in this world. I adore their brotherly moments really there should more of them.Especially I love their hugs.I only wish that they say to each other I LOVE YOU in those words. I don't think it would fit if these two brothers would ever say "I love you" to each other because their way of telling that is way more subtile and sweeter - and less embarising for the two guys who always try to keep their faces in front of each other. I think calling each other bitch and jerk has always been the most direct way for them to express themselves to each other. What happened to that by the way? The writer seem to have erased it at some point, which is a shame because it was such a strong emotional tool for Sam and Dean. I also always liked the way the writers dealt with Dean calling Sam "Sammy". It has always been used in very specific situations and Sam's reaction to it has changed from season one to season two. After that this expression has been rarely been used - which fits very well to the storyline because the problems of the brothers with each other got bigger. I kind of miss those little, subtle hints of their brotherly love and I kind of get bored of the great gestures they are making since season 3.

Beagologin Thank you for your comment.I partly agree with you. But why wouldn't they say to each other I love you,they are brothers.They get in life or death situations,it wouldn't be so unbelievable that there is a situation where is appropriate to say it.

They have been in life and death situations right from the beginning. If they haven't said it to each other by now (after several years and almost as many death and near death experiences) I would find it pretty strange if they started that now (at least if they started saying it on a regular basis)!

You're right. The women on the show are just as important as the brothers themselves and many of them are even stronger (at least mentally) than Sam and Dean. I agree with you there. But you have to admit that the writers tend to treat the female characters rather badly in the end (most of them die). I think the impression of Supernatural as a show that hates women is just a result of that fact. But I have a very different problem with many of the women's storylines: most of the time they are either written in very badly (doesn't happen that often) or written out in a very unsatisfying way (happens pretty often). The only female characters I can recall being well written in AND well written out (at the right time in a satisfying way) are Ruby, Ellen and Jo. Sometimes even worse than introducing or killing the female characters in unsatisfying ways: Sometimes the writers didn't know where to go with the character. I had that impression with Jo. Love interest for Dean or not? Just make up your mind!!! I was annoyed by the lack of stability of that character.

So, are you suggesting not to care about the guest characters at all and to just focus on Sam and Dean? I mean, I could also complain about some male characters that were written out in a very bad way. For example I really hated what they did with Bobby. They shouldn't have brought him back as a ghost after S07E10. I don't care IF they write a character out (man or woman) even if I like him or her, as long as they do it in an interesting / satisfying way! Unfortunately, I have seen more of the crappy writing for the female characters (except for Sam in season 8). That's just an observation, not a gender problem! And actually, I have a more severe problem with all the resurrections of old characters (also not gender related). Just because you can bring characters back doesn't necessarily mean you should.

these scenes should have won for best actor because Jared and Jensen play Sam and Dean sooo well I loved Jensen's speach at the end of this scene he put a lot of work into that scene that is why Jensen plays Sam's best big brother :)

That last scene and the first Sam-dies-scene are two of my very favourites!! Such good acting on both sides... I am probably alone with this, but I kinda want the series' finally to end with Sam and Dean dying at the same time. I don't want an open ending, that would make me feel like we will be missing something. It can be a positive ending, too. Them going back to their parents or some kind of vision..

Anni Ford I kind of agree with you. I think it would be a very fitting ending to the show. They never really died, always came back one way or another. To have it end that way would actually mean it's the end. They didn't have to life without each other. But on the other hand I would live for them to grow old and finally get a chance to be happy, actually happy.

What was the reason of them getting a hug on at clip 1:50? I couldn't ever forget that one out, but It's so stinkin' Adorable! Wish we'd have more "Hug 'Cus I feel like It" moments... we'll never hear an "I Love You", but that's our Sam & Dean for us, wouldn't be them If they did I Guess.. Thanx for sharing. Season 8 had so many Huggies, Get goosebumps everytime - Sacrifice beat all the episodes ever shown.. It was so well acted & At the time, we Really needed to see the Boys have that Talk, they needed it as well as we did. Was perfect and I remember how Good I felt Inside after watching It. Sam didn't know he was going to be there. He left because her husband(assumed dead) came back from the war, and even though he said it was her choice to choose between him and her husband he ended up leaving anyway and going to one of the safe houses to lay low and maybe return to work. I'm assuming that Dean on the other hand was recovering in a safe house (probably looking for Sam) and happened to find Sam, so yeah it's kind of one huge coincidence that they happened to be in the same safe house for separate reasons.
